From Johnny Brewer, Director

With performances just around the corner for Oklahoma!, I wanted to take a moment to share why this production is such a historic occasion for the Whole Backstage Theatre.

As many of you know, we often revisit popular musicals and plays every decade or so. Yet Oklahoma! has been absent from our stage for an incredible 49 years. When WBS first produced the show in 1977, it became a landmark production that helped shape the theatre's history. The influence of that original production can still be seen today in Reception Room #1, where Dot Moore's costume and set renderings, along with photographs from the production, remain proudly displayed.

Oklahoma! also has been one of only three Whole Backstage Theatre productions invited to perform on the concert hall stage of the then-Von Braun Civic Center. Even more remarkably, WBS was the first local theatre company ever invited to perform there, preceding the Huntsville theatre companies and helping pave the way for other community theatre organizations throughout the region.

I hope you will consider joining us as an audience member for this landmark production. Whether you have been part of WBS for decades or are experiencing our theatre for the first time, this production represents a rare opportunity to celebrate an important chapter in our history and witness the return of a show that helped define our organization.

Just as in 1977, Oklahoma! will feature a full live orchestra. Bringing a production of this scale to life requires a tremendous team effort, and we are fortunate to have a dedicated cast, orchestra, production staff, technicians, and volunteers working together to make this historic revival possible.

As we celebrate the return of Oklahoma! after nearly half a century, we also celebrate the generations of performers, volunteers, patrons, and supporters who have helped make Whole Backstage Theatre one of Alabama's most enduring community arts organizations.

Thank you for supporting the Whole Backstage Theatre and for helping us celebrate the return of one of the most significant productions in our history. I look forward to sharing this special experience with you.

Ticket sales are soaring with almost 1,000 out of 2,300 seats sold at this moment. Make your reservations today as tickets are moving fast. Go to our website at www.wholebackstage.com to get your seat reserved now.

Warm regards,
Johnny Brewer
