Sometimes, the best photos come from a mix of risk and faith in your gear. During this star mission in Arches National Park, I set up my Nikon D850 on the tripod, lowered it as close to the ground as possible and stepped under the arch to catch the shot you see here.

The winds were gusting over 60 mph as I stood beneath the arch. I kept one ear tuned for the terrifying sound of my camera tumbling off the cliff. Thankfully, it never came! Instead, I got to walk back and discover this surreal “selfie.”

Night photography has a way of slowing everything down, even when the conditions are wild. Beneath that vast desert sky, surrounded by cliffs and stars, it’s impossible not to feel both small and alive.

🎓💫 Big congratulations to the Class of 2025!
Graduation season is in full swing, and I’ve loved capturing everything from cap tosses to proud parent hugs — and yes, even a few happy tears. 🥹

Life Update:�Over the past five years, life has brought some incredible changes my my family and myself. I completed my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, recieved certifications in forensics, anger management, and EMDR, and opened my own counseling practice. In addition to that, my husband and I welcomed our beautiful daughter, Lila 💕. While I had to take a step back from photography during this time, I’m excited to be back and ready to capture your special moments again! 📸✨

Although I’ve done a few sessions and weddings these past couple of years, I now have more availability and am ready to take on new clients! I’m excited to get back to what I love and help you create lasting memories! 🥳

Formal and fantastic! These were captured during winter last year. These two did a great job toughing out the cold weather for such stylish photos. I was rather excited when this theme was discussed. These two nailed it for their engagement photos! Just wait until you see their wedding photos!

Weddings in the Rocky Mountains bring all kinds of fun! Peak wildflower season in Crested Butte is hard to beat. This couple was a lot of fun to photograph because…they had a lot of fun! They were in pure bliss while in each other’s company, through the day. A beautiful day, beautiful setting and beautifully spirited couple, all in one photo!

As several noticed…more than I expected…I hardly posted in 2024! So, I am not going to make up for that. While I have been very busy with motherhood, I have not stopped capturing life’s moments. While my photography has been more focused on portraits and weddings, I still try to find time for adventure and landscape photos. While I have not been able to escape to capture landscapes as much the last couple of years…I was lucky enough to get to take a weekend adventure to Iceland to see one of the eruptions from 2024. It was magnificent to see in person. The lava looked to be in slow motion as it shot up from the volcano, hundreds of meters in the sky. Bucket list item checked off! This was my third visit to Iceland, a country I love so much!

Though it was not visible to the (my) naked eye…I was able to capture a glimpse of aurora glow from the beach in Port Aransas, Texas!

Can’t say I ever thought photographing the northern lights from a south Texas beach would be something I would ever experience.

This made for a pretty magical last night experience. Happy 40th birthday week of celebration to Jamie Perkins Focke!
