South Coast Strong
Resilience in the Crescent City
New Orleans, cradle of soul and sound,
Where the river’s song and spirits abound.
Under oak canopies, we gather near,
A city of light, of love, of cheer.
But shadows fell, a moment so grim,
Hearts trembled, lights grew dim.
Yet even in darkness, we held our ground,
For in New Orleans, hope is always found.
The brass still calls in the quarter’s glow,
A trumpet’s cry, defying the blow.
Our streets may bend, but they do not break,
Our roots are deep, for love’s own sake.
We are a people of joy and grace,
Dancing defiance in every space.
Through storm and sorrow, we still rise,
Beneath the resilience of indigo skies.
From the tremble of jazz to a second line beat,
We reclaim our spirit in every street.
This is our home, fierce and proud,
Our anthem strong, sung aloud.
Let them know, the world will see,
New Orleans stands in unity.
Through pain, we bloom, through fire, we grow,
A city unbowed, with hearts aglow.
So let the levees of love hold strong,
In every note, in every song.
For terror fades, but we remain,
New Orleans, steadfast through the pain. ~DK
