We ran out of sand!

I greatly underestimated the amount of sand needed for this tabletop sculpture... Luckily, a hardware store had some sand that looked like a good color match but once we got back, we realized it was way darker than the original sand. That made sculpting 10x harder than it should have been. We are professionals, which means we don't just know what to do when things go right but most importantly, when they go wrong!

We couldn't find sand!!!

Logistics are the hardest part of traveling for sand sculptures but luckily, we had a ton of help!

Sand Man, out of New Bern North Carolina, not only donated ALL of our sand but also got the local New Bern Ace Hardware to donate all of the buckets! Paragon Building Group is used to building luxury homes but used their skills to build our tabletop instead.

Now we get to focus on what we came here to do which is make an amazing tabletop sand sculpture!

So excited to have this opportunity to create a table top sand sculpture for Paragon Building Group at the The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City, North Carolina.

Packing is the most stressful part. I hope I didn't forget anything!

Temple of Gulls

Translating architecture into sand isn't easy. I have to balance the layering with detailing all while maintaining a consistent design. This has been the first sculpture that I really feel the practice paying off.
