Thinking of a pastel original? I’ll help you choose with confidence. 🎨

Paper matters: Ask about archival, acid-free stock and a secure mat. Framing matters: UV glass and a sealed backing protect color and texture. 🖼️

Check for archival labels or ask the artist about the projective longevity — these prolong beauty and value. My mixed-medium practice (pastel and encaustic) adds depth and longevity to each piece. I’ve also received awards that support buyer confidence.

🏆 Exciting News! 🏆

I am honored to share that my pastel painting, Sunset Marsh View, has been awarded 1st Place in ADSO’s Bayou Bliss Show!

This piece was inspired by the quiet beauty of the marsh at sunset, when the sky ignites with color and the reflections dance across the winding waterways. Capturing these fleeting moments in soft pastel allows me to explore the glow, atmosphere, and serenity that make our coastal landscapes so special.

I am deeply grateful to ADSO, the judge, and everyone who supports my artistic journey. It is always rewarding to see a piece connect with others and to celebrate the beauty of the natural world through art.

If you’re in the area, the Bayou Bliss Show will be on display through June 19th, and I would love for you to stop by and experience the wonderful collection of artwork on exhibit.

Thank you for following along and supporting my passion for creating art inspired by the landscapes and waterways that surround us.

From tidepool to pastel support — I found this little world on a Pensacola shore, where shorebirds traced a patient rhythm along the wet sand. I used a palette of that morning: muted oyster grays, sea-glass greens, and a pale sunlit pearl.

The finished piece holds the hush of low tide and the bird’s quiet curiosity. I worked from reference photos I took that day, letting the textures of the sand and ripple marks shape my marks. Each mark is a small act of witnessing the coast I love.

Collectors who cherish coastal memory will find a calm, place-based story in this work. See the piece and more on my site — every painting begins with a moment by the water.

“Fields of Remembrance” 🌺

This pastel piece was created in honor of Memorial Day — a quiet tribute to those who served, sacrificed, and are remembered. The endless field of poppies glows beneath the light, symbolizing remembrance, resilience, and gratitude.

As I layered each pastel stroke, I wanted the landscape to feel both peaceful and powerful — a place where beauty and reflection meet. May we pause today to honor the courage of those who gave so much for others. ❤️🇺🇸

Soft pastel has this incredible way of catching light before the piece is even finished. Chasing that glow across the dunes tonight — layering warm golds, violets, and cool ocean blues to let the sand feel lit from within.

One of my favorite parts of working in pastel is watching the atmosphere slowly emerge through color and texture. The dunes begin to breathe, the sky softens, and suddenly the whole piece starts holding light.

“Juicy” is now on the wall for the Artel Members Show 🍊✨

This pastel piece was inspired by the simple beauty of color, light, and texture found in everyday moments. The glowing citrus slices against the cool turquoise background became a study in contrast — warmth against shadow, softness against vibrancy, and the way light can transform something familiar into something almost luminous.

One of the things I love most about pastel is its ability to layer rich color and movement, allowing the surface to feel alive and expressive. “Juicy” celebrates that energy through bold strokes, saturated color, and a playful composition that draws the eye from slice to slice.

Honored to have this piece included in the Artel Members Show and grateful to share my work alongside so many talented artists. 🍊

There is so much more to a sand dune than just beige. I am currently exploring the subtle shifts in color that bring these landscapes to life and give them that amazing sense of distance. It is definitely a creative challenge I am enjoying. Have you ever tried painting desert scenes or beach dunes? Follow along as I explore more scenes.

There’s a quiet strength in a magnolia—soft in form, yet unwavering in presence. This piece marks my first exploration of the bloom in pastel, drawn to the way its petals hold both light and shadow at once. The luminous whites are never truly white; they carry hints of violet, blue, and warmth, shifting with the surrounding light and atmosphere.

Set against a deep, almost mysterious background, the magnolia emerges as a moment of stillness—an unfolding. Each petal opens deliberately, revealing a vibrant center that feels both delicate and grounded. The contrast between the softness of the flower and the energy of the surrounding greens creates a tension I wanted to lean into—nature’s balance between calm and vitality.

Created for the May Flowers show at Quayside, this piece is less about the perfection of the bloom and more about its presence—how it quietly claims space, inviting you to pause and look closer.
