The Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival Postponed for 2019

Strategic Partnerships Sought for 2020

[Guerneville, CA] – The 2019 Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival which, was scheduled for the weekend of September 7 & 8 at Johnson's Beach in Guerneville, has been postponed for financial reasons until 2020.

“We are truly disappointed with the postponement, especially since so many fans travel to Sonoma County each year and look forward to enjoying the beauty of Guerneville and its neighboring towns,” explained Rich Sherman, producer of the Russian River festivals. “We thank the owners of Johnson’s Beach for doing everything in their power to rally community support, but time ran out on our efforts for 2019.”

“In 2007, when we purchased the events from the former owner, Lupe DeLeon, who was ailing at the time, it was our intention to save the festival for Sonoma County,” explains Sherman. “We are very proud of the world-class musicians that we hosted at Johnson’s Beach in the last 12 years, including B.B. King, The Doobie Brothers, Chaka Khan, Gary Clark, Jr., Boz Scaggs, Trombone Shorty and many of the best Bay Area performers.”

“As we look ahead, we are seeking financial & strategic partners who might help stabilize the festival, and grow the events in 2020 and beyond,” says Sherman.

Johnsons Beach, Russian River kicked off its 100th Anniversary last weekend with two incredible festivals -- The Goo Goo Dolls headlined the Johnson's Beach Feel-Good Beach Party on June 9, and Robert Cray, Eric Burdon and Taj Mahal anchored the Russian River BLUES Festival on June 10!

We are excited to have The Robert Cray Band returning to this year's Russian River BLUES Festival on June 10! Almost a year ago, Cray released his Grammy-nominated album "Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm" that was recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis, featuring some of the legendary studio musicians from that soulful era!
