Main Street Players

Main Street Players Main Street Theatre is located in the heart of Griffin’s historic downtown at 115 North Hill Stree

The creation of Main Street Players began with the dream of its founder and Artistic Director, Norma Richardson, and to return to her hometown and help expand the artistic opportunities in the community. Joining in this endeavor were other returning natives professionally involved in theatre, Joe McKaughan, Charles Walker, and Dan Strickland. After six years of planning and preparation the dream b

ecame a reality. Main Street opened its first season on September 20, 2001, with the production of “Yours Anne” the story of Anne Frank told through music. Main Street is located in the heart of Griffin’s historic downtown at 115 North Hill Street. The old Woolworth’s building was renovated to create the 100 seat black box theatre.

On September 21, I had the privilege to attend the Main Street Players’ production of “The Play That Goes Wrong.” The play was not just one of the best plays I have seen, but one of the best sources of entertainment! I laughed until I cried throughout the entire production. In these days when life seems to try us regularly with the hardships in our world, a good laugh is needed. While it will not solve problems, laughter will help us escape them for a little while.

Main Street Players closes out its 2024-2025 season with Rumors and It's No Rumor… It Is A Rollicking Good Time! Neil Simon’s classic farce follows five couples that had all been invited to a dinner party to celebrate a sixth couple's 10th anniversary. However, everything changed when the couples discovered the host (Charlie) had shot himself, his servants and hostess were missing, and dinner hadn't been prepared. What develops is utter nonsense and hilarity. First produced in 1988, Neil Simon wrote that it was in response to a difficult time in his own life.
Audiences will be pleased to see many familiar and returning faces on this production. Heather Shepherd plays Chris Gorman, Mitchell Brinkly III-Ken Gorman, Jill Shedd-Claire Ganz, Chris Gansel-Lenny Ganz, Issac Melton-Ernie Cusack, Karen Beyer-Cookie Cusack, Will Pitts-Glenn Cooper, Elise Wright-Cassie Cooper, Brad Jester-Officer Welch and Keith Potter-Officer Pudney. BJ Hughes, MSP Scenic Designer, will direct the production. Franky Dansby serves as head carpenter and Norma Richardson, MSP Artistic Director, will costume the performers. Nate Barnes will provide lighting, and Scott Welborn will design and execute the sound for this performance. Keith Potter serves as stage manager and Janice Aiken serves as production assistant.
Rumors will run Wednesday, June 11 through Sunday, June 22. Wednesday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM, with Sunday matinee performances at 3:00 PM. To buy tickets, contact the Main Street Players box office: 770-229-9916. Tickets are expected to sell quickly for this timeless bit of hilarity, so call promptly to reserve your seat. Tickets can also be bought online by visiting mainstreetplayers.org and selecting the show Rumors and then click on “Buy A Ticket.” The remaining tickets will also be sold at the theatre the evening of each performance. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $15 for students, with special discounts available for groups of 10 or more.

Next play takes place in 1936-we are looking for one art deco club chair. That’s more this shape it doesn’t have to be white or dark brown. (Top 2 pics).

We also need six small dining room chairs or card table chairs. Also art deco I attached a photo.
We are willing to rent these, but I can’t find them anywhere here in Griffin. I don’t even know where to look.

Join us for our Christmas mystery. Lots of fun to carry you into this festive time of year. A brief synopsis:
When one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It's then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears.
