I've said it before and I'll say it again……Griffin, GA has the absolute best and most dedicated rodeo fans in the entire Southeast! Thank you guys for showing up and showing off!

Now, Mother Nature made this weekend a little tough so I would like to address a few things for the few that have complained.

Friday night being postponed: Due to the severe lightning that was occurring on Friday (as the Rodeo start time was approaching), we felt that it was best to postpone that performance to Saturday morning. The safety of our spectators, contestants, vendors, sponsors and livestock is top priority to us. This resulted in us having both performances on Saturday (11am and 7:30pm). Even with the short reschedule notice, we had an outstanding crowd Saturday morning!

Friday night refunds: To accommodate the Friday night ticket purchases, we activated the Friday night tickets so that they were able to be used for either performance that was offered on Saturday. We wanted to be able to work with your Saturday schedule. For those of you that had a scheduling conflict and were unable to use your Friday night tickets for Saturday, we are offering full refunds. We are just now getting settled in and have responded to everyone seeking refunds for your Friday night tickets. Be patient with us on that as it could take a few weeks to settle everything up. We are on it.

Saturday night rain: The rain showed up Saturday night, exactly as it was forecasted. Rodeo is a sport and most sporting events, concerts, etc. do not "rain out". However, if there is lightning, this will cause events to be delayed or postponed. This is true with the sport of rodeo as well. Again, lightning is the ONLY reason that Friday was postponed.

Saturday night refund requests: A few of you that attended the event on Saturday night left when it started raining and then asked for a refund. I'm sorry but we can't refund when an event still occurs. We even posted earlier in the day on Saturday that we were rodeoing that night.....rain or shine. We were aware that there was no threat of thunderstorms (only rain). When you come to a rodeo in August, I can almost guarantee you that you're going to be hot, dusty, possibly rained on, or a little of all the above. It's the nature of the sport.

Competitors: Several have asked why we didn't cancel Saturday when it started raining. I've addressed most of that above but now let's talk about the competitors, as this is also about them. They drove to the Rodeo with full intentions of competing. A lot of them do this for a living and they count on it. They are also competing for points and prize money to qualify for the finals. The ground was safe and took the water just fine. Not one horse, bull, steer or calf slipped and fell. I can testify to this as I was one of the pick up men and the bronc riding got a little wild! If you do the research, it rains at the Cheyenne Frontier Days basically every performance. The legend himself, Lane Frost, was fatally injured by a bull at Cheyenne in the pouring rain. Not because of the rain, but due to other circumstances that had nothing to do with the weather. We Rodeo and this is what we do. We don't worry about a little rain. Cowboys and Cowgirls are known for their resilience and toughness.

Saturday night performance: Saturday evening, the rain started right after the National Anthem, Prayer and our American Flag presentation. The stands were filled and most of you all stayed and had a blast in the rain with us and we greatly appreciate it! Memories were made that will never be forgotten! We even saw kids and adults using a bank as a slip and slide in the mud, etc.! And then, we all dried out and are just fine! Thanks for hanging out with us! Mother nature tested us and she failed miserably!

*****BULL OR BRONC RIDING BUCKET LIST EXPERIENCE
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to ride a bucking bull or bronc in a rodeo? If you’d consider that to be one of your “Bucket List” items, we’re here to help you check that one off and turn it into a reality! You will be featured in the performance at the Rodeo and will actually get on a Bull or Bronc in front of a huge crowd! You’ll have all the lights, the arena, the announcer, the bull fighters, the pickup men, and of course plenty of action shots captured by a professional photographer of this unforgettable memory! You’ll arrive early in the day for a detailed training session (including chute procedures and riding techniques). We’ll provide you with all the equipment that will be needed (including safety gear) and we will match you up with livestock that we feel would be a good fit for your level (and nothing that will turn back and eat you when you exit!).
