Our Story
Submission Criteria for The Riff , the stateside publication:
- We welcome a wide range of submissions: photography, illustration, poetry, prose, short story, essay, and basically any type of creative work. We love international AND local submissions.
- We encourage writers to stay away from sentimental/inspirational genres like Twilight fan-fiction.
- We value originality and creativity above all else; therefore, only previously unpublished works will be considered for the 2018-2019 version of The Riff. Our goal is to preserve the artistic integrity and expressions that were created with the invent of Repentino. in Mexico City.
- Plagiarism will not be tolerated and the person will be banned from the The Riff Literary Magazine for the current and the following year and the next. (Use quotations if you’re citing somebody else.)
- All of your submissions will be reviewed and analyzed by the staff of the The Riff Literary Magazine and the English Department. Once accepted, it becomes exclusive property of this magazine.
- Make sure you keep your originals at home.
- You can submit up to 3 different pieces.
- We will be accepting works in English and other languages, or even a mix. Be experimental.
- Once accepted, we deserve the right to submit it to other competitions outside or inside of the United States.
- Race, age, s*x, location, socio-economic status or s*xual orientation will not play any role in the submission selection process.
- Please send your submissions to [email protected] or to our tumbler page therifflitmag.tumblr.com. Each submission should come in a different attachment in the same email.
- IMPORTANT: artwork and photography should be at least 300dpi (around 2.5 megabytes or 10 megapixels)
- No more submissions will be accepted after February 1st, 2019 at midnight. Priority deadline is December 10th, 2017.
