Just getting around adding this Scandinavian inspired accent wall in my half bath to insta. It’s been a month and I am still loving the pop of color and character it brings to the space! Clean lines, cozy vibes, and just enough boldness to make it interesting. Can’t wait to tackle another wall soon! Would you put this kind of design in your house? Just curious.👀

Color chosen, plan in place. However, instinct always has the final say. I trust the palette, but I trust the process more. Who do you think will emerge in this piece?

Introducing Marcellina, an ode to strength, resilience, and intellect. This piece is a homage to the values I have strived to instill in our daughters—qualities that represent the powerful essence of womanhood. Motherhood is not just a role; it’s a deeply multifaceted journey filled with moments of self-reflection, compassion, and the delicate balance of providing a confident, unwavering guiding light.
Marcellina embodies this journey, navigating the path between nurturing and self-discovery. She stands in the center of this intricate dance, exemplifying wisdom, grace, and a fierce dedication to shaping a legacy. With each step, Marcellina reminds us that motherhood is not only about what we pass on to our children but also about the ways in which we grow, transform, and find strength within ourselves. She is every mother—an emblem of the sacrifices, triumphs, and hopes woven into the fabric of our shared experiences. Cheers to our daughters. Cheers to our mothers. Cheers to us!

It has been a long time since I have posted here. My intentions with this page was to create a space to share some of my creations and eventually provide opportunities for togetherness in creating. This pillow idea was started right before the Pandemic. It was the project that I was working on when I had to switch into high gear as both teacher and mom. Here we are now, January, 2024 and I just finished what I started in 2020. So, here it is. This is a 16”X16” Punch Needle Pillow Cover made with 3ply wool. The design is my own, however, I followed the assembly directions provided in the book by Amy Soutter Oxford Punch Needle Rug Hooking, Your Complete Resource to Learn and Love the Craft. The back is wool purchase from Back Door Quilts. Cheers to art. Cheers to handmade. Cheers to the love of craft and making. It is so good for the mind and soul.

So back in March the world shifted for all of us. As a artist I shifted my attention from creating my own art, sharing my love for punch needle and relationships with other creatives to the monotonous and necessary task of making masks. Instead of doing workshops and spending time with my kids and friends over the summer, we did what we were asked and hunkered down to keep ourselves and others safe. I began by making masks for my husband and his coworkers. Then I began making for friends and family. Before I knew it, I was making masks for all sorts of people all over the country. A good mask was hard to find at the time and they were in demand. I found myself at the sewing machine sewing from morning til night. I was producing in batches of 50. I was able to make, from scratch, 50 every two days. This was not only helpful to many, it helped us financially as one of us was working at half pay and at the time we’re not sure of what the future looked like. So my mask-making filled in the gap for a bit. For that, I thank the many that came to me for masks. Eventually masks became readily available in stores like Target and Old Navy... the big box places. I was largely relieved because I knew I could not and did not want to keep up this level of production. However, it also became apparent quite quickly that even if I wanted to, it would be hard to compete with the prices of a product manufactured in China. This is not a new revaluation for me. This is just an observation that many artists and crafters experience often. We can’t compete with products made in parts of the world where it is acceptable to be paid pennies a day. Anyway, this is the first piece I have punched since March. It is small and simple. It felt good to just make something to be admired and not so controversial. My hope is that those who read this are happy and healthy! ♥️

I have lost track of how many masks I have sewn since the middle of March. I am thinking it is close to 200. While I love creating art and exploring creatively, I couldn’t help but to pause and do what I can to help keep people from using PPE that healthcare employees need, to help keep each other safe as possible as we do what we can for work and to “open our communities” and to help my family a little bit financially during a time when money is thinner. Looking to get back to my but for now, I’ll help where I can and how I can. A big shout out to and for helping! 🖕🏻

I am excited to share this collaboration that I have been working on for a few months. I created a line of designs for Basket Treasures-Wool Cottage, a rug hooking, punch needle, embroidery shop that we are fortunate to have here in Greenwood, IN! My part was to create a pre-stretched, pre-drawn frame using monks cloth. They are available in 8"x8", 10"x10" and 12"x12" dimensions. The wool used in the sample images was hand-dyed by Susie Simmons, owner of the shop. Contact her directly through FB to purchase!

Good morning Punch Needle Social followers! I am working on some ideas for this site in terms of sharing via video! Many of us will be finding ourselves with some time to fill. While my initial intention was to dedicate this site to only Punch Needle Socials, I think it is wise to expand during these days to all sorts of different techniques. Let me know if you have any ideas?

Took today to play around with another Punch Design. I played around with two different . I used a #10 & #8 also used in a 12”x12” frame. I like the black background. Makes those colors really punch. We had rain, sleet, ice and snow that fell like cotton balls today. Now it back to rain. The next three weeks don’t look much different. I’m guessing I’ll be sharing more designs soon! Hoping to be able to sell some soon! ♥️
