Wow I love painting these “UP” shoes! Really enjoyed doing this commission for ! It’s always cool to try new styles and topics. Having a totally white shoes to just go crazy with the really fun. I’m so happy with how these turned out. I thought it would be cool to do Ellie and Carl’s chair colors on the posterior of the shoe and then a swooshing cloud design with the iconic house on one shoe and Carl and Ellie musing at the clouds on the other shoe. These are technically my first shoes that I’ve completely painting

This holiday season has been packed with commissions. I am so thankful that I am able to be a part of someone’s Christmas/New Years experience. It’s been awesome to see the joy of people when they receive a painting of a loved one. This piece I’ve been working on for a couple weeks now. I was a little nervous about painting the baby because babies can easily look terrifying if you paint them wrong😅 but God gave me a good first draft and I’m thankful. I’m really seeing improvements in my painting of people over this last year, which is super encouraging. I thank God for all the experiences that he’s used to grow me, both as an artist and as a person. I can’t wait to be used in his plan, regardless if it involves art or not.

Here’s a concept computer rendering of a piece I’ve been working on since the summer. It’s been an adventure to make this huge complex canvas. It’s my first 10 piece canvas. I haven’t painted it yet, but here’s a general concept of what it might look like.

It’s been busy, but I’m really excited about this Christmas season! All Christmas cards are available at josiahpait.com. I enjoyed the new experience of making baby custom canvas Christmas ornaments this year. If you’re planning on coming to the Bob Jones lighting ceremony, come by the welcome center. I’ll have a table, and will be selling Christmas cards and exclusive ornaments! I’d love to see you there.
Trusting God through the Holiday season.

The weather is finally starting to get colder and I was reminded of my Papa. He spent many days working outside in the cold. Sometimes I get so caught up in all this art stuff that I forget why I’m doing it. My Papa did everything so quietly and faithfully, and I have a lot to learn about that. God has given me this talent and I need to be giving it back with everything I got. Everyone has special talents that you’ve been given and I’d encourage you to put something in your life to remind you to “THINK. PRAISE. ADORE. and SERVE.” Share this if you think someone needs to hear it. @ Greenville, South Carolina

I think as an artist I deal so much with light that I can’t help but be fascinated by the way light works. Although my main thing is painting, I always try to explore the other realms and sciences of light which helps me further understand this world that God has created and be inspired to create new works that reflect that. This is an experiment in black and white photography that I’ve really enjoyed doing. If you’ve ever heard of or The Wizard of Oz, this same concept of splitting light into three images and then combining them later into a colored image was used to film the Wizard of Oz and many other color films from that era. I like retro stuff because of how much physical and chemical processes take part in the final product.
So there’s a little look into the mind of a mechanical artist. It might not be as exciting as a new painting but I think it’s fascinating

I love the idea of places in the middle of nowhere. That really inspired this piece. I wanted to capture the extremely extra style of old signs with all the arrows and different shapes. This was a crazy canvas to make and required a lot of measuring of angles and frame lengths but it turned out really well! I love the simplicity of the sky contrasting the business and texture of the desert surface.

Welp school starts tomorrow. This summer was an absolute dream. I just want to thank everyone that was a part of it. God has taught me so much over these last few months it’s weird that it’s come to an end. I wish I could keep cranking out art as fast as I did this summer but this school year is gonna be a busy one. I’ll still try to do my best to paint some here or there but I can’t promise anything. Again thanks to everyone! I couldn’t do it without y’all. Looking forward to next summer! I’ll definitely be painting every chance I get.

Wow this was really cool to make. It’s the biggest painting/canvas build yet! I’m super pleased with how it turned out.
For this piece I wanted to try my hand at making a rounded canvas. It was definitely an adventure but the actually hardest part was creating the varied thicknesses in the canvases. I intended in my last painting to paint large majestic mountains but didn’t end up that way. This painting I felt like I needed to fulfill that idea and I was not disappointed. This was my first time doing large rocky mountains and I am so so happy that they turned out really well.
If you’re interested in purchasing this piece DM me. I’m not sure if I’m ready to let go of it since I have a few events that I would like to feature it in.

I’m not quite sure what to call this one, leave your suggestions in the comments. This was super fun to do! I intended for it to be a majestic Rocky Mountain range but as I painted it evolved into this. It’s simple but beautiful with all the contrasts. I really like how it turned out

Titled “Oasis” this one challenged me in both canvas building and painting. I thought the unusual canvas shape would look pretty cool and for some reason it just reminded me of the desert with bright reds and blues. It just evolved from there.

This one was a bit of an unexpected challenge😅 I didn’t expect waves to be a huge deal because they seem simple enough, but turns out both the waves of sand and the water offered their own issues. On a canvas building standpoint, it was a challenge because there is an inverted corner, which I’d never seen before, and wasn’t sure how to do. I’m super glad it turned out well!
