Beyond The Blue

I wanted to create the feeling of a sea turtle gliding effortlessly through the waves, and even beyond the canvas itself. The textured water flowing over the frame adds that extra sense of movement, making it feel like the ocean can't be contained.

Sometimes the best part of painting is finding ways to bring a little life outside the edges.

Sparkle: The Huntress

"Sparkle: The Huntress?"
Textured Acrylic on Canvas

This painting began with an ordinary moment at home. My cat, Sparkle, was sitting on my piano, completely captivated by a tiny bug outside the window. I snapped a quick photo with my phone and immediately fell in love with the dramatic backlighting and the intensity of her gaze.

When I later looked at the image, I realized she no longer looked like a house cat at all. In my imagination, Sparkle became a wild huntress hidden deep within an atmospheric jungle, alert, focused, and powerful.

Using layered texture, luminous color, and soft atmospheric light, I transformed that quiet moment into something untamed and cinematic.

The painting is framed in reclaimed heart pine that I handmade from wood salvaged from 19th-century structures that once stood on our farm here in the foothills of South Carolina. The aged wood, with its rich grain and history, became the perfect complement to the wild spirit of the piece.

Moon Time Reflections

This painting is my newest completed work and is a 30'x24' acrylic on gallery canvas. It is a depiction of a fantasy landscape that is both steeped peace and yet also alive with energy and an awareness that everything is connected as one pulse, one hum. As with all my paintings over the last couple of years, the divine is present through the triangles and repetitions of threes and the number '143' is the representation of 'I Love You' and a reminder that we are always divinely loved and protected.

Music Makers

I had been stressing out about the current geopolitical environments and yet, I looked at my young grandchildren who continue to find joy. I realized that one of the best ways to rebel against darkness is to choose to dance anyway. When there is pain on our doorstep, we sing anyway. Whatever talent we possess, we use it to create anyway. Like the musicians on the Titanic, we just keep going with what we do best. And above all else, we choose LOVE anyway.

Fuchsia Flow

When I was a child, my father was a tropical fish breeder. I grew up watching and a learning about many of the different types. Watching the eggs develop into stunning, beautiful fish. This is the 5th betta fish I have painted and plan to do more as they are fun to paint and I love the finished result.
