Doodad Farm

Doodad Farm Doodad Farm is dedicated to connecting musicians with music lovers and building community. Here you can feel the music, not just hear it.

Doodad Farm provides a place for our community to experience art and music in a deeply personal way. It is our belief that modern society has created artificial barriers between those who create art and those who experience it, and we seek to reverse that trend. When people come to Doodad Farm for the first time, they immediately recognize that something is different, that this is no ordinary venu

e. What they’re feeling is the love that was built into this place by volunteers, who all pitched in to make Doodad Farm happen just because they believed in the idea of it. We are not here to make a profit – we’re here to help dedicated artists bring their art to people who appreciate it, and to help those artists support themselves. We never charge for admission, because we feel that everyone should have access to art, regardless of income. We do ask for donations, of which every cent always goes to the performers. Most know Doodad Farm as a concert venue, but we’re here to support community art in every way. If you need a space for a non-profit event, like music instruction, band practice, jamming, etc., just ask and we’ll try our best to provide the space and schedule you need. If you’re doing good work, then we want to support you. We’ve worked hard to build this place, and the more it can be used for the good of the community, the better. All we ask is that you leave the place the way you found it. Doodad Farm pays its bills by renting the space out for weddings, parties, reunions and retreats. Please keep us in mind as a resource for such events. We’re only one minute from I-40 and super easy to access from anywhere in central/Piedmont North Carolina. We’re always looking for support from the community we serve. If you would like to volunteer to help with an event, or participate in one of our work days, please contact us. We often have use for building materials and landscaping materials, too. Sorry, but because we have relatively few shows a year, we can't respond to every solicitation for booking. We generally approach bands ourselves and offer them shows here. If you're interested in seeing how a bunch of energetic volunteers turned an old log tobacco barn into a very cool music venue, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AY-y3kDOTOg&feature=g-upl

THIS Thursday (7/30) is the last Thursday of the month, so it’s time for songwriters to gather at Doodad Farm to listen to each other’s original songs. The weatherpeople say that we’ll meet outside, but if they’re wrong we’ll be in the house. Either way we’ll start at 7pm.

By the way, we welcome anyone who wants to drift into our session and listen respectfully.

Bring whatever drinks and snacks you want, and of course, whatever instrument you want to play. All you have to do is show up and join the fun!

Doodad Farm is at 4701 Land Road, Greensboro.

Hosting Reverend Billy C. Wirtz was even more fun than we thought it would be. We're so appreciative of all the generous folks who came out for this bodacious, outrageous show. Reverend Billy also sends his thanks and wants to come back to Doodad Farm when possible. What a night!

The rain miraculously ended as the Reverend pulled into Doodad Farm! Praise be!
