# What’s that? It’s time for another Dance From Above Sessions!? You heard right, Thursday the 23rd is upon us and we can’t wait so see you at the Flat iron.

This month we’re featuring a low key legend of NC underground dance music, Gallimaufry of The Nightlight Club, All Day Records, and head of the label Tone Log (previously frequeNC).

Rousing out the night we have mainstays Niervash, Rahl, and Alvin Shavers. See everyone soon!

Don’t think for a second that we would forget your dancing needs in February! We have another night to let loose at the Flat Iron with a Sessions series party featuring another NC selector that were hyped to bring to the decks on 2/23!

This month we have Gallimaufry, part owner of the legendary Nightlight Club and essential record digging haunt, All Day Records, both staples of underground music in NC. He also runs a party called Volume and a label called Tone Log (and previously frequeNC records).

Rounding out the night we have regulars, Niervash, Rahl, and Alvin Shavers. Cant wait to see you again out at the Flat!

We’re nearly there! Tomorrow night we gather and dance the day away. Can’t wait to see you all again.

2023 is upon us and it’s time to kick things off with the first DFA of the year on January 19th. We are breaking into our 9th year of parties and we are excited to have a home for a monthly party again at none other than the cozy and intimate GSO mainstay, The Flat Iron. To start things off right we have invited back NC selector Theydylike who previously joined us under former alias Lady Fingers and is currently also known as Maille Forme.

They are inarguably one of the pillars of the Triangle’s q***r electronic music scene, with past parties such as Pegasus, Bent, Proto Futuro and Body Politic in Chapel’s Hill quintessential Nightlight and one of the oldest gay bars in the nation, The Cave (formerly Pegasus.) Alik has releases on the pivotal Chicago label Trax Records and the Berlin-based, femme-centric label Sound Warrior, to name a couple.

We couldn't be more excited to have them out to our first party of 2023! Filling out the night will be all your favorite DFA residents and their crates of floor filling gems. See you again on the 19th!

BACK AT THE FLAT! 12/26 9PM-UNTIL.

We always try to sneak in a dance party right in the middle of the holiday season and this year we thought, why not Boxing Day? And what better way to kick back and celebrate than to bring some fresh NC talent to the dance floor?

If you have been to one of our parties within the past year it’s likely you have heard a Dadpapa track slip into the mix. It’s a duo currently residing in Durham, NC that are long time friends and colleges of DFA from way back in its early days and we are beyond excited to be featuring them this month at The Flat Iron!

Their music has a distinct vibe that is never far from the dance floor as it radiates deep house lushness with a flavor all its own. Their sound balances minimalism with a sense of warmth that is inviting and familiar and leaves you lost in dreamy yet percussive synth work. We are excited to have them close out 2022 with us. Also along for the ride are our fellow family Niervash, 50ft, and Alvin Shavers. See you then!

DFA Sessions is back at it! 11/29, The Flat Iron featuring Rahl.

We had a great time over at The Flat Iron in October so we decided to keep the ball rolling and have set aside a couple more dates on their calendar!

This month we are hauling out the crates again and featuring the impeccable taste of our very own Rahl. His laid back, dance forward taste and skillful blends are unparalleled in the area and we are humbled to have him as one of our resident selectors.

Rounding out the night we have 50ft, Niervash, and Alvin Shavers. See you on the 29th!

A little reminder that we’re back at it down at Tuesday night for a Halloween week pregame. We have had some of you ask about costumes, if your in the spirit then by all means show us what you’ve got! Just know that it is not at all required for entry, we want anyone who wants to let loose for a few hours to come out and have a good time with us. We’re kicking off at 9pm, and word on the street is will be on site! Feel free to DM with any questions, we’ll try and keep an eye out. Otherwise we’ll see you soon!

We’re bringing back our more intimate ‘Sessions’ series of events on October 25th.

Our new home for this series will be at Greensboro’s love letter to great music, The Flat Iron! It’s genuinely the best place in town for music lovers and we’re thrilled to be back. Our featured groove selector this time is long time collaborator and dance floor chameleon, Niervash! Also joining in on the crate digging will be Rahl, Alvin Shavers and Fifty Foot Shadows.

No Halloween tricks, just a Tuesday night get down and we can’t wait to see you there. We’ll be spinning from 9-2am and ask for a $10 donation if you are able, to help fund future events.
