And thatās a wrap on the 2022-23 school year :)

1. Fin
Charcoal, watercolor and colored pencil, 2023
The assignment required an animal, a plant, a person, and an object in some kind of space. I chose an octopus, roses, the woman, and meteors in a gradient sky. I currently cannot explain this piece any further but Iāll change this caption if I figure out what itās aboutš
2. ITāS ALL IN YOUR HEAD
Charcoal, 2023
I was having a rough week between mental illness and hydrocephalus and the assignment was self portrait so this was expelled from my soul. Iām fine now, was just having a moment :)
3. Pop Art Sculpture
Wood and acrylic paint, 2023
We had to choose an art movement to represent through sculpture. I chose pop art, more specifically the classic āPOP!ā bubble, and added discolored circles to imply the circle pattern seen throughout much of the comic-book-style art. *I know pop art is more than just comic books, I just focused on that style more heavily than say Andy Warhol or Keith Haring.*
4-5. Shunted Brain
Hydrocal from a silicone mold and acrylic paint, 2023
These were both hydrocal pours of a silicone mold I made. We were required to make 2 sculptures with different surface treatments, which is why there are two and they are painted differently. Itās an artistic rendition of a shunted brain, and honestly I donāt have a whole lot to say about it. If I canāt think of an idea for a project, I tend to default to something dealing with my hydrocephalus, so thatās what this is lol
6. Pumpkin Patch with Scarecrow
Charcoal, 2023
We were assigned to choose an artist to ācontinue the conversationā they deal with in their art. If you know me, you already know I picked Vincent Van Gogh. The main piece of his I was inspired by in this case was Wheatfield with Crows. I believe his primary conversation was an attempt to cure his mental illness by feverishly capturing everything he found beautiful in the world, so if you know me even better you know I wanted to draw a bunch of pumpkins. I think I was able to continue his conversation in a more personal way, especially because he and I have a lot of the same illnesses.
