We are proud to announce that Mary Alice Amidon, Peter Amidon, Mary Cay Brass, and Andy Davis are the 2023 recipients of the CDSS Lifetime Contribution Award.

Collectively known as the New England Dancing Masters, for the past four decades they have spread the joy of traditional music and dance across North America.

Starting with "The Chimes of Dunkirk" in 1991, the New England Dancing Masters produced a treasure trove of books, CDs, and DVDs with crystal clear instructions for dances and singing games. Their live performances, workshops, school residencies, and leadership at family dance camps have encouraged and trained countless teachers to bring traditional dance, music, song, and storytelling into schools and communities.

In recent years, the Dancing Masters’ teaching blog and YouTube channel brought resources and inspiration to everyone at home during the pandemic.

River Singers winter/spring session starts February 21st. Join us for an exciting semester of songs from the Balkans, South Africa, the Republic of Georgia, Britain, Quebec and last but not least African American gospel with special guest Dr. Kathy Bullock and a joint concert with the Bennington College Music Department focus on songs of peace and struggle. Cabin Fever Workshop with Nicholas Williams from Quebec

Nicholas is in the Quebecois band Genticorum, leads
a 60 voice community chorus called Voix du Village in
Waterville, Quebec and worked with River Singers in
2018 doing a Quebecois program. In this workshop
Nicholas will share some favorite songs from England,
South Africa and Quebec.

Dear Singers,

River Singers are hosting two holiday concerts filled with songs of joy, love and peace from Macedonia, Georgia, South Africa, the British Isles, American shape note and gospel traditions.
It’s our first December concert in 3 years!

Both concerts are Saturday, December 17 - one at 2pm and the other 4:30 at the Westminster West Church. After this seasons singers invited all their friends and family we have
a few remaining tickets for each performance so I am reaching out to others who have sung with me. We ask that attendees be masked, as are we.
The cost is a sliding scale $15-$25.
