CONGRATULATIONS to the NBHS Concert Choir on their STRAIGHT Division I (highest rating from all 3 judges!) performance at the IHSMA Large Group festival on Fri. May 8, 2026! They brought their ‘A’ game for sure! And after our big swing show on Tuesday too, it has been such a great and successful week, worth all the hard work that they put in! Way to go, choir!! 💙💛🎶

SUPER EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! Congratulations to Jacob Dubiel, Taylor Debner, and the entire cast on a job well done!

North Butler has been recognized with the following awards and honors for their March production "Shrek The Musical, JR" as part of the 2026 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards (IHSMTA), presented by EMC Insurance Companies:

Production Awards
Distinguished Scene - Make a Move

Student Awards
Special Recognition in a Principal Role - Jacob Dubiel as Shrek
Special Recognition in a Principal Role – Taylor Debner as Pinocchio

A year-end Awards Showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Thursday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. and will recognize a total of 110 adjudicated schools from across the entire state. The Awards Showcase will be livestreamed at IowaPBS.org as part of a collaboration with Iowa PBS. Iowa PBS will also broadcast a highlights special of the event later this summer on dates to be announced.

IHSMTA is a year-long, signature education initiative of Des Moines Performing Arts.
