In an attempt at making today better, I biked to Greenbelt National Park and played in the shade of the trees.

This is just a sneak peak of "What Animal is this" a song written by my band mate and honk brother. Johannes. 🎶✨🎶

What a beautiful evening out in Columbia Lakefront.

A femme brass band from Brooklyn has been touring this year and I finally got out to see them!
✨Brass Queens ✨
I had so much fun dancing around all night! I only took these few pictures because it was such a blast!!! 🪊🎺✨🎶💜🖤💛
Brass Queens have quite a few original songs, this was my favorite! But of course I went the most nuts when they started playing, What's Up. The honk world is so generous that Brass Queens shared their charts with one of the bands I'm in, DCASB. 😎💙🤍❤️
I'm so grateful to have found honk, etc.

I wish I knew how it would feel to be free, I wish I could break all the chains holding me, I wish I could say all the things I should say, say them loud, say them proud, for the whole world to hear 🎶🎺😎

Great lyrics. With many meanings.

My chains are invisible. This week is my seven year anniversary of my TBI that put me in the hospital and forced me to stop teaching public school. Recovery is for the rest of my life. Each day is a new day to do some good in the world.

Today I played🎺 🎶 on the overpass.
A new song, second time playing it in fact, got it yesterday. It will get better with time and practice. That's how you learn, practice, practice, practice. Show up for yourself, do the work, go to therapy, play your instrument.

A mommy cardinal is taking care of her eggs, the tomatoes are blooming, cardinal flower blooming, and sunflowers 🤩❤️

It's always more fun to play music with other people. I met up with my friend Michael McTrouserpants because we needed to practice, but making music in a public space creates joy. Nothing pi**es off the opressers more than joy.
Ric was setting up his guitar, he plays afro jazz beats, and we all played together. So much fantastic fun! 🎺✨🎶🪊🥁🪘🎸
I hope to do this again soon.
