Southwest Wyoming BMX

Tonight, we went live and opened the doors a little wider on what it takes to keep Southwest Wyoming BMX going.

We shared our roles, talked about what happens behind the scenes, and reflected on just how much BMX has grown in our community. We have watched riders find confidence, families find a sport they love, and two local tracks continue giving kids a place to race, compete, grow and belong.

Now, it’s your turn to help decide what comes next.

If we want BMX to remain part of our community, we need people willing to step forward and help lead it into its next chapter. Board nominations are now open. You may nominate yourself or someone you believe would be a great fit. Anyone nominated must be willing to serve before being placed on the ballot.

Nominations will close September 8th at 9 PM.

Voting will take place in person on September 9th at 6:30 PM at Santa Fe Trails in Rock Springs. We will be in the back meeting room.

And please remember, the new board will not be handed a set of keys and wished good luck. The current board will be there through the transition to answer questions, share what we’ve learned, make introductions, and help the incoming board get its feet under it.

We have built a lot together. We would love to see Southwest Wyoming BMX continue growing for the next group of riders who haven’t even found the starting gate yet.

If you’re considering getting involved with Southwest Wyoming BMX but can’t attend the informational meeting in person, we will 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘁 here on Facebook. This meeting is your chance to hear directly from the current board, ask questions, and get a clearer picture of what serving on the board actually looks like before voting takes place at the follow-up meeting on September 9th.

𝗪𝗲’𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁. Anyone nominated will need to agree to be considered, or have already let us know they’re interested in serving. Our first priority is filling the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Track Operator positions. Once those core positions are filled, additional officer or leadership roles can be considered based on interest and data collected from the nominations.

We want to show some love to Sweetwater Mountain Biking Association (SMBA), a local group that another local nonprofit built around the same kind of passion we have: creating opportunities, improving our community, and getting more people on two wheels..

Charles has helped our riders with bike repairs, supported our events, and helped keep kids on two wheels. BMX or mountain bikes, it’s all about supporting our community and getting people out riding bikes.

These riders showed up and SHOWED OUT at the Wyoming State Finals today! We are so proud of every rider who made the trip to Gillette, lined up at the gate, raced hard, pushed themselves, and gave it everything they had.

Different ages, different skill levels, and a whole lot of determination out there today.
No matter where they finished, every one of these riders should be proud of what they accomplished. Southwest Wyoming BMX sure is.

And a huge thank you to the parents and spectators who made the trip, cheered loud, and supported all of our riders while they left it all on the track. Your support means more than you know.

We’re asking all Southwest Wyoming BMX riders racing at the State Final in Gillette on Sunday to meet us at the podium for a quick group photo!

Registration is from 9:00–10:00 AM, and we’ll meet at the podium at 𝟭𝟬:𝟭𝟬 𝗔𝗠, right after registration closes.

Come represent Southwest Wyoming BMX and help us get a great photo of our riders together!
