💛 Community in Action at Safe Haven 💛
We want to take a moment to thank every single person who has stepped up, donated, shared, dropped things off, checked in, or simply held space for what’s happening at Safe Haven right now.
Because of YOU, something really beautiful is unfolding.🫶🏼
The unhoused individuals who are currently staying overnight at the sanctuary have become volunteers - helping us clean, care for the space, and support the animals. What started as emergency shelter has grown into a true partnership. With mutual respect, clear boundaries, and shared responsibility, we’ve created this unexpected, beautiful ecosystem of people helping people… and people helping animals.
We also want to give a huge shout-out to two local businesses who showed up in a big way today:
✨ Body Alchemy Piercing Studio is providing dinner tonight for all of the unhoused individuals sheltering at Safe Haven.
✨ Tundra Apparel, a local printing shop, is donating a big box of misprinted sweatshirts so our guests can stay warm.
This is what community looks like. This is compassion in motion.
That said - and we want to be transparent - amid all of this care and coordination, the cats still need us, too.
As we move forward, we do need to shift some focus back to fundraising for the sanctuary and the animals. We are actively building new programs (announcement coming soon 👀), including adding an overnight supervisor. This opens the door for:
🐾 Neonatal kittens and puppies (bottle babies)
🐾 Medically complex cases that require overnight monitoring
🐾 Expanding the level of care we can safely provide
Having unhoused volunteers who are willing to help allows us to cut back slightly on payroll in some areas, which helps make this overnight role possible - but medical care, supplies, and daily operations for the cats still require funding.
