We just finished up a 3 part collaboration with the Diabetes Prevention Program. Participated learned of the benefits of growing your own food, the traditional art of pottery, and making green corn soup over the fire in the vessels that they created. Yaw^ko Culural Heritage Team, everyone stepped up and helped, and to the DPP program for prioritizing cultural knowledge as diabetes prevention.

Our kastoweh class has come to an end, and I am so grateful to have been part of it. Watching participants connect with the teachings, traditions, and hands-on work is always rewarding. We shared knowledge, stories, and skills while learning the deeper meaning behind the materials and the kastoweh itself. I only wish we could offer more opportunities, but I am thankful for what we can do and for a community that continues to value and support this work.

Foraging for Freedom Tour!

I am less than one month away from having completed my year of foraging every bite of my food and medicine! I will be celebrating by traveling to communities throughout the country to share my insights and experiences from the Year of Foraging. My first stop will be in my Homeland of Wisconsin as well as Minnesota and Illinois.

While many of us are in great despair over our current social, political and environmental crises, this is a call to action. Now is the time to embrace community, build local resiliency, grow our relationships and develop our skills. This is a call to healing our relationship with Earth and the land around us.
