TEST & TUNE SUNDAY
This Sunday, September 6th, we’re going racing at Island Dragway! Gates open at 10AM and racing runs from 11AM to 4PM.

The weather is looking PERFECT for making some passes down NJ’s only drag strip. A high of 75 degrees means cool air, higher speeds and quicker ETs. So what are you waiting for?!

Bring out that old muscle car. Bring the Civic. Bring the truck. Crack that two step and rip it down the strip! Cars, trucks, bikes, diesels, electric vehicles, street cars, race cars... if it passes NHRA Tech, it can make a pass!

Do you have a kid who is always asking about cars? Maybe they’re already obsessed with racing? Did you know there’s an entire racing program dedicated to kids and teens? Island Dragway participates in the NHRA Junior Drag Racing League. From Junior Dragsters to everyday mom and dad cars, to street cars that can grow with your child as they grow into the sport of drag racing, there are ways for young racers to get involved and learn the sport.

So bring the family, bring the car and come spend Sunday at the drag strip!

TECH TIP TUESDAY: DRESS TO RACE!
This week’s Tech Tip is all about proper racing attire. Before you pull into Tech Inspection, make sure you’re dressed to race.

LET’S START WITH YOUR FEET
No Crocs, flip flops or sandals. You need closed toe shoes or sneakers, and yes, wear socks too. Boots ok. As you get quicker and/or faster, specially approved racing shoes may be required, but we’re just covering the basics you need to get down the track.

NEXT UP... PANTS!
You must wear pants. No shorts, capri pants or anything that doesn’t completely cover your legs. Leave those designer jeans with the giant holes at home. Jeans and sweatpants are okay. Pajama pants? Technically are enough to race, but we really don’t recommend them.

SHIRTS
T shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and hoodies are all good. Tank tops, tube tops or anything without sleeves is NOT allowed. Again, we’re talking about the basic requirements here. Quicker and faster vehicles require additional safety equipment, including things like a fire jacket.

HELMETS
This one is simple... YOU MUST WEAR A HELMET TO MAKE A PASS DOWN NJ’S ONLY DRAG STRIP. A DOT rated helmet is allowed for vehicles running 14.00 and slower. Quicker than 14.00 and you need a SNELL rated helmet. Here’s something to keep in mind if you’re shopping for a helmet. Snell 2015 rated helmets expire 1/1/2027. Snell ratings are good for 12 years, so a Snell 2020 helmet expires 1/1/2032. Need a new helmet? We have Snell 2025 helmets available for purchase at the payout window in the concession stand!

These are just the basics to get you dressed and ready to race. The quicker and faster your vehicle gets, the more safety equipment you may need. Fire pants, racing shoes, gloves and other equipment may be required depending on what you’re driving and how quick and fast it runs.

We want to congratulate Chris Miele, not only is he the 2026 Island Dragway Bile Champion, he is now the 2026 Bracket Finals Bike Race of Champions winner.

He went up against all the other tracks champions and came out on top!!

Open Test and Tune tomorrow Sunday 8/30

Some of us are at Bracket Finals with the team, some stayed back at NJ’s only drag strip for normal maintenance and prep for tomorrow’s test and tune. All vehicles welcome, must pass NHRA tech inspection.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces and car asking with new ones. Never been down our race track? No worries, we will walk you through the whole process, from filling out your tech card, to which staging lane you want to be in and even helping you stage in the beams.

Unfortunately, the heavy overnight rain left the track completely saturated. We’re left with high humidity and don’t feel we’d be able to dry in reasonable time to hold our test & tune, so we are Rained Out for today, Sunday 8/23.

Next weekend we are bringing our Bracket Finals Team up to Lebanon Valley weds-Saturday and have a test & tune scheduled Sunday, 8/30.

Gates open at 5pm for Saturday Night Grudge and Test and Tune + Gamblers

Forecast has changed and we are prepping the track for tonight. Open test and tune for all vehicles. Free $200 to win Gamblers race with 80 racers through the front gate. If less optional gamblers race buy-ins in the lanes.

Bring out your daily, race car or even the project car for some shake down passes. Grudge races? only one way to find out, gotta be here at NJ's only dragstrip.
