So my girlfriend was upset that I hadn't written a pop song in AGES. So I whipped this up Sunday and Monday. I have to say, the new Maschine Jam made the workflow so fun and fast!
All the instruments and drums were done in MASCHINE, sounds from Maschine and Komplete Ultimate. Composing the track took me about 3 hours. Then about 2 hours to write the lyics and melody.
I recorded and edited the lead vocals in Presonus' Studio One (The editing flow for comping in that program is AMAZING!) That took about 3 hours.
Then I recorded the audio from Maschine into Ableton Live to mix. I know some people don't think Ableton is the best for mixing, but it does something that for me in KILLER... When a section is looping and I touch write automation, it continues writing as the loop rolls back around. It may not sound like much, but I haven't seen another program work that way. So I mix in sections, letting it loop around until I get everything like I want it in that section, then move the loop to the next section. Anyway, the mix took somewhere between 3-4 hours.
If anyone has any questions, I'm happy to answer. Also, I'd appreciate any feedback. What works, what doesn't?
Thanks guys.
