There's a new piggy in town! Meet Kumara (the Maori word for sweet potato) our newest KuneKune Pig! We got her to be a companion for Spud our male pig. We had intended to try to put Spud with our older Potbelly Pig, Pearl, but she decided she prefers to live with her chickens. Pigs are social animals in general but some individuals prefer to live alone.

KuneKune pigs were originally prominent in New Zealand and nearly went extinct with less than 50 individuals left. Through breeding programs their breed was brought back and now they are a common pig here in the United States. KuneKune pigs are considered "mini" pigs but are still capable of being up to 220lbs.

To echo the PSA from our Great Bend Police Department - Ks, summer brings many more people out for outdoor activities and travel, kids out and about on bikes and scooters and new drivers on the road. Luckily this vehicle is stationary, because this new driver hasn't figured out which way to face in the vehicle yet and there's a pedestrian under the vehicle.

But in all seriousness, they gave some great advice-If you're behind the wheel, please take an extra moment to scan intersections, watch for children near roadways, and avoid distractions. If you're a parent, please make sure your children understand the importance of wearing safety equipment and following traffic laws. Every one of us has the ability to make our streets safer through simple choices and good judgment.

Thank you for helping us protect what matters most—our families, our children, and our community.

Sauda the African Lion thinks she's pretty sneaky, can you spot her? Lionesses hunt together and use ambush tactics and fan out to catch their prey. Female lions start stalking at 3 months of age but don't start joining the hunt until they're a year old.

🎣It's a beautiful day for fishing! Piglet and Pooh bear had the opportunity recently to catch their own fish. This is one of many different enrichment activities we provide to the animals. From toys, to fishing, to puzzle feeders, to scents, we offer something different to all of our animals on a regular basis.

🐻Did you know in certain parts of Alaska, Grizzly bears can consume over 6,000lbs of fish a year?!
