THE PICKS AND PANS OF PAULINE KAEL concludes this weekend with The New Yorker's Rachel Syme joining us to discuss two stories of violent young love that got very different receptions from Kael!

The New Yorker’s Rachel Syme joins us Sunday at 5 pm for Terrence Malick’s BADLANDS, another story of young outlaw love playing as part of THE PICKS AND PAULINE KAEL.

Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek star as a couple inspired by real-life killers Charles Starkweather and Carol-Ann Fugate, who leave a trail of bodies behind them in their quest to leave their dead-end town behind in a landmark movie Kael called “so preconceived that there's nothing left to respond to.”

Join the East Mountain House for How Do We Want to Die? a community conversation about palliative and end-of-life care following a free screening of the documentary THE LAST ECSTATIC DAYS on June 25th at 7 pm!

Ethan Sisser, a young man with terminal brain cancer, sits alone in his hospital room. When he starts livestreaming his death journey on social media, thousands of people around the world join to celebrate his courage. Still, Ethan envisions more – to teach the world how to die without fear. To do that, he needs to film his death.
