Join the Du Bois Freedom Center and BIFF for a special screening of the “science docufiction" film the New York Times called a "genre-defying, mind-expanding jolt of a movie" that ranked of one of their best of 2025. Adapted from Kahlil Joseph's renowned video art installation, BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions is a distinctive cinematic experience that mirrors the sonic textures of a record album, weaving fiction and history in an immersive journey where the fictionalized figures of W. E. B Du Bois and Marcus Garvey join artists, musicians, Joseph's family, and even Twitter chats, in a vision for black consciousness.

Writer-director Boots Riley follows up his debut feature Sorry to Bother You with I Love Boosters, another stunningly stylized satire simmering with political commentary. Keke Palmer leads a group of professional shoplifters who embark on a crusade to bring down a cutthroat fashion mogul (Demi Moore) in this wild capitalist critique.

Hot off it's screening at BIFF, we're proud to present Carl Deal and Tia Lessin's documentary STEAL THIS STORY, PLEASE as part of our Limited Engagement series this week!

Undeterred by armed soldiers, evasive politicians, and riot police, Amy Goodman has reported some of the most consequential stories of our time. STEAL THIS STORY, PLEASE! is a gripping account of the trailblazing journalist whose unwavering commitment to truth-telling spans three decades of turbulent history.

From the frontlines of global conflicts to the organized chaos of her daily news show Democracy Now!, Goodman amplifies stories and voices too often silenced by commercial media in this new documentary from Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Carl Deal and Tia Lessin (TROUBLE THE WATER, CITIZEN KOCH, THE JANES).

New Yorker writer and author of Oscar Wars Michael Schulman joins us this weekend for two days of the PICKS AND PANS OF PAULINE KAEL! First up, we discuss Kael’s love of NASHVILLE, Robert Altman’s sprawling look at the lives of musicians, politicians, and oddball loners making their way through the capital of country music on Saturday, June 6th. Join us for a conversation about Kael’s impact on the 1975 Oscar class, the way her writing lifted up directors like Altman, and her legacy today. After the screening, we’ll continue the conversation with Michael in our lobby while he signs copies of Oscar Wars, on sale from our friends at The Bookstore in Lenox!
