Not gonna lie… selling my first books from a post felt different.

Not because of the money.

Because somebody took the time to read my story.

That’s real to me.

This didn’t come from a perfect life.

It came from mistakes.
From pressure.
From figuring things out the hard way.

This is how I learned about my grandfather.

Not from memories…
Not from stories…

From a newspaper.

He was murdered when I was 4 years old…
in the store he owned in Detroit.

I don’t remember being there.
I don’t remember him.

But I’ve spent a lot of my life wondering…

Was I like him?

Did I get my drive…
my mindset…
my entrepreneurial spirit…

from someone I never really got the chance to know?

I guess I’ll never have that answer.

I’ve been through a lot in my life…
But nothing prepares you for hearing something is wrong with your child.

I remember the moment like it was yesterday.
Everything slowed down.
Everything got quiet.

And at the same time…
my mind was racing.

As a man, I’ve always been used to being in control.

But in that moment…
