Another round of original Family Dog and Bill Graham handbills from the archives!
A generous Grass Valley resident recently gifted us a substantial collection of these incredible little pieces of countercultural history, and weāre excited to share another batch.
Originally printed to spread the word about the psychedelic happenings unfolding across San Francisco in the 1960s, these handbills were miniature works of art in their own right.
This round features artists like Bob Schnepf, Bill Henry, Paul Kagan, Joe Gomez, and others, who transformed fleeting advertisements into mind-bending compositions of dense lettering, vibrating color, surreal imagery, and countercultural symbolism.
Intended to be passed from hand to hand, pinned to walls, and eventually discarded, these small pieces of paper offer a remarkable window into the art, music, and creative explosion that defined an era.
