Every two years, Denison's Music Department collaborates with composers, musicians, and artists in a

Every two years, because it takes that long to organize something this fabulous, Denison University’s Department of Music collaborates with musicians, composers, fine artists, dance artists, theatre, and creative people across genres to present the TUTTI Original Works Festival, a days-long celebration of original works.

“TUTTI” is a musical term, taken from the Italian for all together, an apt expression representative of the unusual depth and breadth of the artistic offerings of this event.

TUTTI friends, it is with great sadness and a heavy heart to share the passing of composer Mark Smythe, whom we had the pleasure of programming his work, Song of the Sea, performed by the Denison University Chamber Singers, directed by Harris Ipock.

Mark is a New Zealand-born composer of concert and film music, based in LA. Since 2023, he has composed and performed 14 chamber works for 9 concert collaborations: LA Choral Lab (2), Choral Arts Initiative (1) and The Night Temple (6), and performed a selection of his choir & electric guitar works with Belgium's Lassenne Vocale.

WEEK-LONG EXHIBITIONS

In addition to the 9 concerts, Philosophy Coffee, Round Table Discussions, We're also hosting and co-hosting art exhibits around the arts quad.

FROM WITHIN: COLORS OF LA SAGRADA FAMILIA
An installation in our Mulberry Gallery (a 5 minute walk from Eisner) between Music Faculty Zachery Meier and Fine Arts Faculty Christian J Faur with the fantastic Tower Duo (Flute and Saxophone). The projections are from the stained glass windows of the iconic Gaudí cathedral in Barcelona, Spain, with music inspired by the internal experience of the various colors that pour into the nave.

🚨 FEATURED ARTIST ALERT! 🚨

We're delighted to welcome to campus Nick Ritter to TUTTI 2026!

Nick is a passionate educator and performer serving as the bassoon professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, bassoonist/contrabassoonist for the Charlotte Symphony, along with numerous other guest appearances in symphonies around the country. Additionally, he teaches for the North Carolina Youth Orchestra, leading their beginning classes for oboe and saxophone, in addition to conducting the Junior Wind Ensemble. Nick maintains a private studio of bassoon and reed making students, and has previously held teaching positions at Northwestern University, Northern Illinois University, and The People’s School of Music in Chicago.
