This piece truly embodies what sets my work apart from just another tattoo.
I had the absolute honor and pleasure of getting to tattoo this piece on my truly lovely client. This piece was painted with natural watercolors I handmade myself from local plants and minerals. I feel deeply appreciative of the earth tones and color the world around us provides.
I painted this piece to embody a strangely familiar and aching feeling of having a heart you wear on your sleeve. You feel like you’re too much, say the wrong thing at the wrong time, too expressive. It feels like wanting to bite your tongue, chase your own tail, to shut yourself away from the world.
This piece captures that moment in time, and expresses not just a pretty image, but a real human emotion. A reminder of the ache you’ve been through, and the realities of being an open book. I’m so glad my client felt the connection to this pre-dawn design, and allowed me to translate it to skin.
