Meet Sunny & Gate. ❤️

For years, these two have stood quietly beside the pond at Sungate Place, keeping watch over everyone who comes and goes.

But somehow, we never gave them names.

Well… now they have them.

Meet Sunny and Gate — the official sentinels of Sungate Place.

They've watched brides arrive, families gather, kids run across the bridge, wedding parties take pictures, and more than a few people stop beside the pond just to enjoy a quiet moment.

And we have a feeling they'll be standing watch over a whole lot more memories in the years ahead.

So the next time you're at Sungate Place, stop by the pond and say hello to Sunny & Gate.

They aren't much for conversation, but they're excellent listeners. 😂

And now that we've named them, we have to ask...

Which one is Sunny and which one is Gate?

Another little piece of the Bridal Suite is finished.

If you’ve followed Sungate Place for very long, you probably know we have a hard time leaving well enough alone. 😂

We’re always looking at the property and asking ourselves, “What could we do here to make this a little more beautiful, a little more interesting, or a little more special?”

This time it was the area just outside the Bridal Suite.

What was basically an unfinished space is becoming a little dry creek garden, with big Oregon rocks, old wood, new plantings, and a rustic metal cover along the building. Nothing huge. Nothing fancy.

Just one more corner of Sungate Place getting some love.

And that’s really how this whole place has been built—one idea, one project and one little corner at a time.

But now I want some help.

What would YOU add to this little garden?

More flowers?
A small water feature?
Lighting among the rocks?
Something old and interesting tucked into the landscaping?

Or would you leave it simple and let the rocks and plants do the work?

Give us your ideas. Some of the best things we've added to Sungate Place started with somebody saying, “You know what would look really good there…”

Some of our favorite moments at Sungate Place happen when nothing is happening at all.

Tonight I walked down by the entrance pond as the sun was going down. The sky turned pink, the water reflected the clouds, and for a few minutes everything was just… quiet.

We built this pond and bridge as part of the entrance to Sungate Place, but over the years it has become something more. It’s one of those places where you naturally slow down.

And maybe that’s part of what we want Sungate Place to be.

A wedding doesn’t have to feel rushed. Your family doesn’t have to arrive, attend a ceremony, eat dinner and head home.
