Well... It's finally here. Hard to believe that it's been a year! Within the first few weeks of starting as Miss Kalamazoo Pride, I was confronted with many things. Ppl who didn't like the fact an "outta towner" was MKP... ppl who didn't want me working with certain ppl within the drag community there. Ppl talking about me who I'd never met. Figuring out how to politely and politically go about working with said ppls. My goal was clear... I wanted to make my reign about showing love and understanding. Reuniting the drag community, here and beyond. What a task right!?! Lol. While I may have not achieved it in year... I did facilitate some discussions, and plant seeds of communication, between many ppl on both sides of said coin. I reached out to the core of the community within the first hours of having the crown on my head. Mingling and talking to the beautiful ppl of Kalamazoo! I always say that 'we are in charge of our own legacies!', and I'm honored to be apart of yours! I want to say a sincere 'Thank you' to Caj Monet, for always being a real friend... an inspiration and mentor to so many. To the staff and amazing ppl Kalamazoo for this platform and honor, and to all of the ppl that make this event possible!!! Good Luck to the contestants tonight!
