Dear Chamber Music Enthusiasts,

It feels like only yesterday that I was planning our fifth season; I wanted the season to be a meaningful artistic celebration of our country’s 250th anniversary while ensuring that every concert offered a satisfying musical experience. As someone organizing and playing, it’s often difficult to gauge how a concert is truly received, but I hope that you’ve enjoyed the journey. I’ve grown to love the works of Korngold and Clarke in particular and realized what an amazing musical heritage this country has cultivated with these composers.

Thank you very much for being part of the GVPCS family; whether you are new this season or have been with us since the beginning five years ago, I deeply appreciate your presence, support, and love for music. In graduate school, a professor once asked our class what “music” really was. During a discussion that lasted over an hour, she argued that “music” doesn’t really exist on paper or in our minds; but that perhaps music only exists when “music-ing” occurs. In many ways, by definition, music is a communal activity and celebration. GVPCS couldn’t exist without you - so, thank you!

I’d greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to fill out our end-of-season survey. It helps us plan for the next season, and we also use survey results in our grant applications. Survey: https://forms.gle/qxxrGL8UrmpXFehd9

I’d also like to tell you that donations received by the end of this month will have a direct impact on the programming for the 2026-2027 season, as I will be finalizing our plans next month based on our current balance. No donation is too small, and we truly appreciate your partnership! www.gvpcs.org/support

We will announce our season via email and social media in July. I hope you have a wonderful summer filled with music! If you’re looking for local performances during the summer, please check out these chamber music series:

Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck: https://www.saugatuckmusic.org/

Summer Strings at Meijer Gardens: https://www.meijergardens.org/strings/

I will also be performing a short solo recital featuring Schubert B-flat Sonata as part of the Music in the Heights Series at Eastern Avenue Church on Sunday, 4/26, 3pm.

See you in the Fall!

Musically yours,
Sookkyung Cho
