We will so greatly miss Jean Reed Bahle, a brilliant writer, director, actor, and a wonderful friend to many. She was so generous with her time and energy with us last Spring driving in 2 hours from her home in Sutton’s Bay to work with our soloists for “Sincerely Yours, Pauli Murray”, offering her expertise in bringing out the emotion and the story. She was always encouraging and gentle…yet demanding. Jean was a gift to our entire community. Our thoughts are with David and all her loved ones. ❤️

It’s kinda chic to be a member of the Grand Rapids Women’s Chorus. Our 31st season kicks off this week. 🎶💜

What started in 1996 with just 12 singers has grown into a chorus of 120 singers.

Here are a few fun stats about our chorus this season:
This year we are welcoming 22 new singers: 12 sopranos and 10 altos.
Our members range in age from 21 to 77.
Around 49% of our members identify as LGBTQI+.

We’re so grateful for every voice that makes this chorus what it is. Here’s to another season of singing for justice, peace and equality. 🎶💜

July is Disability Pride Month, and we’re celebrating by making music accessible to everyone. Access is incredibly important to us, especially if you can’t hear our music. That’s why we’re proud to have a certified ASL interpreter, Mieken VanderWaerden, with us signing “They Are Mother” by Jennifer Lucy Cook so every audience member can experience music fully. Music is for everyone. 🎵🦻🏼🤟
