We are starting our 12th year of success in the community. Learning from Scratch works with business and industry identifying and re-purposing their waste and excess materials for use in art and education. We work very closely with companies with waste reduction and reusing their products in the community . Our involvement with the schools and local artists is very exciting as we watch their creat

ivity bloom. Science teams use our materials for exploring and problem solving. Whatever your profession or business is: home school parents, church, camp, teacher or just someone who has a creative flair, you will find our materials useful for all sorts of projects. Regardless of your interests, we at Learning From Scratch know that you will find something to aid you in whatever it is you do. We are a place where you can turn everyday recycled materials into bigger ideas.

Due to our landlord (Comprenew) selling their building, we have moved all of our materials into storage units and do not currently have a storefront or a central storage location.

Please contact us at 616-890-1085 if you have or know of any space we can use.

We want to continue making our materials available to the community. Our current situation does not provide adequate accessibility and is not economically sustainable.

We also need help with online marketing and organizing our offerings.

For the long term we hope the mission of Learning From Scratch can continue well into the future with the support of forward thinking organizations.

We have about 2 weeks to move out the rest of materials from our current location because Comprenew has sold the building.

We need manpower and trucks to get big and heavy stuff out.

We also would like a longterm location from which to operate. A benefactor organization who believes in its value to community is needed Thor the longterm.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month***

Hello — I am Betsey Hamm, founder of nonprofit Learning From Scratch. I found out I had breast cancer in 1992 and was very scared even though it was detected early. I had a double mastectomy and radiation and excellent medical care and have survived for 30 years. You too can overcome by examining yourself monthly and getting periodic mammograms. I will be praying for you!

These stamp sets of Symbols of the Warrior can be purchased for the heavily discounted price of $12.00 plus shipping for each set. Due to prolonged storage, the ink pads may be dried up, but new ink pads can easily be purchased at craft stores. You can order by calling 616-890-1085. The proceeds will be donated to our local Gilda’s Club in Lowell, Michigan.
