They have been forged from the gritty wilderness of the Midwest. Initially, performing in the sweat drenched basements of Michigan State University, the Turtles then surfaced in Chicago. Working 50+ hours a week for the same industry, "G-chatting" about the upcoming gig that night, sleeping for 5 hours, biking to work, and then doing it all over again. After 3 years of the heavy Chicago grind, th

e group decided to make the jump to full-time musicians. This included a move back to their home state of Michigan and the burgeoning music of Grand Rapids. They are the brothers of the lake water, notorious tamers of the tapping toe, wranglers of the funky feet movers, and minions of the night.

What a journey it’s been for us ALL. This turtle community feels like such a pocket of joy amidst the chaos. It feels like it’s all about having fun, making friends, and loving music. That’s what we’ve always wanted - it’s here and growing! ❤️‍🔥🐢

From our perspective - this is a special album. How can I explain this….? Because of all of the ups & downs that came and went during these years. 🌊 There might be 10,000 hours invested into this bad boy. The writing, the jamming, brainstorming, arguing, deep talks, laughing, crying - all in an effort to make the best song possible that can express how/what we feel.

Music is so good for relating to other people. When one of our songs resonates with what you are dealing with… and we see you singing! And dancing! And writing us messages! No words for that. Just happy about it and grateful to be alive together.

He is the Producer for the project - this means a lot of things. He brings so much to the table, allowing for us to fully lean into the music and put the maximum amount of authenticity we can into these recordings.
Things like: having the studio setup and ready, the knowledge and ability to operate all of the gear, helping guide the process of each song, offering ideas of we get stuck, giving us snacks, bringing good energy to work.

All from behind the scenes - today he says “…I love and am grateful for you guys. You tell a good story. You’ve walked through so many changes as humans since starting this batch of songs. I love seeing you all continuing to walk together and make tunes as a way of living. It’s freaking cool and real. I consider you guys an example of how to be creatives in a band and also build lives for yourselves…”
