Busy Bee

My first colored pencil drawing from the Bonny Snowdon Academy. I just started using colored pencils 6 months ago and this little fella caught my eye. I love the challenge of the different techniques colored pencils require on different surfaces.

I love Van Gogh and the way his paint stokes flow. This was my attempt to capture that feeling through the wave encircling the kayaker. The challenge was painting the kayak and the person moving through the wave. Luckily acrylics are easy to work with.

I swear I am channeling someone else sometimes when I paint. This gentleman came into a life of his own. He looks nothing like the image I was using to paint from. I love his smiling eyes. I wish I knew him better!

This was a recent commissioned piece. I painted the original back in 2018 and it is part of my private collection. The illusion of transparency in color is what I loved about painting this. I used a small sponge to show texture. A fun piece to paint!
