A Reminder of What Poe Road Was Always Meant To Be
Lately, I’ve watched a lot of emotions, opinions, memories, and frustrations being shared online. Some of them are valid. Some of them are painful. Some of them are probably long overdue conversations.
But before we let the noise become the story, I think it’s important to remember what Poe Road Music Sanctuary was always meant to be.
The word sanctuary wasn’t chosen by accident.
A sanctuary is a protected place. A place where people can step away from the weight of everyday life. A place where artists can create, musicians can perform, promoters can host events, and strangers can become lifelong friends.
For many of us, Poe Road became exactly that.
It wasn’t built by one person. It wasn’t sustained by one person. It grew because countless people shared their time, energy, creativity, sweat, ideas, and love with the land and the community around it.
At the same time, none of it would have been possible without Wayne opening the gates and trusting people to gather there in the first place.
Wayne has always described himself as the caretaker of the land, and I think that’s worth remembering right now.
Long before any arguments, disagreements, or social media posts, there was simply a piece of land where people came together to make music, create art, celebrate life, heal, and find belonging.
That’s rare.
In a world that constantly pushes division, competition, ego, and conflict, places like Poe Road are becoming harder and harder to find.
So regardless of where you stand, what your experiences were, or who you agree with, I hope we can all take a moment to remember why we came there in the first place.
To reconnect.
To create.
To forgive.
To grow.
To find harmony with one another and with ourselves.
The music brought us together. The community kept us coming back.
Let’s not lose sight of that.
