RECOVERY ISN'T ALWAYS FLATTERING 😵‍💫

The real work begins this month. Training is fun, marathons are heroic, but getting your body back in working condition is the true test of patience and will. This month we'll be cutting out running and adding in daily yoga, while trying to keep the step count up and gently work our way back into lifting. Doing some cherrypicking of yoga vids on YouTube, which I'll be sharing in the discord each day.

This Winter is gonna be a lot of fun- but only if 😏 don't let the unflattering moments take your progress from you. Take the time to recharge before you dive in head first. Whether that's school, work, quitting smoking, losing weight, whatever it is. Set yourself up for success and keep the end in mind.

Put down marathon #4 yesterday - no PR but I think that was the most fun I've had in a race. Thank you to and for the hosts and cheers, and big props to for nailing a solid PR on the day!

Above all, much love to for being there at the finish every time. Except that one time, but that was my fault because I was wrong about my pace.

IF IT RAINS ON RACE DAY... 😏

I'll be ready. Today was a gut check! Sleep wasn't great, highest mileage I've had in a week since my achilles injury 2 years ago (45 miles). Rainy start and rainy finish, all at a pace I can be comfortable with if I'm not feeling 100% for the marathon.

Taper time, baby! Time to cut back on miles and let the training set in. I'm excited for the big day!! Let's get after it for Marathon #4.

Summer is closing out and it's tempting to get a lil' sleepy on your goals. This is the BEST time of year to get moving! Brisk mornings and beautiful evenings, and the shorter days are on their way. Get your habits in order before all of the holidays and celebrations and snow come around in a few months. Make it stick!

Who has two thumbs and almost took the vomit train to barftown this morning? This guy! Legs felt surprisingly good getting out there, hit a 7:07 split and then immediately had to cut back. Happy to finally get up to what used to be a tempo pace, especially this far out from the big day.

😎Yeah probably. This AM was 85% humidity, almost 80°F, and my lungs were having NONE of it. Struggled hard but finished the miles, and that's what it's about. Meeting that commitment to yourself, even if the commitment is small. Evie will be proud of you! Go make your workout happen today, friends.

This morning was bananas! Thank you for the lovely setups and all the goodies for our sweet girl, shame about the thunderstorm! So good to see some friends (furry and otherwise) out at the park today. $300 raised this year, next year we'll go bigger!

Growing up, I never had to worry about someone questioning my right to exist or be the person who I am. There are young people out there finding their identities and true selves, and orgs like IGBP help connect them with resources and communities that affirm them and support them. This stuff saves lives!

😤You are worth the effort. You are capable of the change you want to make. If now isn't the time for change, you don't need to force it. Give yourself grace in the hard moments and push yourself when you feel the need for growth. Start today, and start with small things. You'll be surprised how much it can mean down the road.

I've been a bit lazy about messages I'm putting out on IG, and I know that. Streaming has been a lot of fun, and also a 20+ hrs/week commitment - taking a lot of energy to stay consistent on other platforms 🥲 thanks for being patient with me!

Stay visible. Year-round runners are familiar with the winter dark times, throwing on reflective gear and flashing lights, etc.

You would THINK that with more daylight, folks in cars and trucks would be looking for runners- they're not. When you're getting out for a run, try to wear SOMETHING that's a bit brighter in color (or grey if you live in peewee's playhouse I guess).
