Western Slope Concert Series founding director Kathryn Mientka Farruggia returns to the series as co-artistic director with daughter Stephanie Mientka. With this seasons’ theme, “Masterworks and Candlelight,” we will re-create the intimate feel that chamber music originally had – with seating on the stage and candlelight ambiance. The first two concerts focus on the great classical masterworks for piano solo, and for guitar solo and guitar and piano duo. The final concert will present “oldies” song classics from Sinatra, Elvis, and more, as well as the unforgettable “Rhapsody in Blue” for piano solo.

Lirios String Quartet this weekend!

The Lírios String Quartet, composed of the talented violinists Benjamin Goldstein and Maggie Brady, violist Yuri Santos, and cellist Chas Barnard, will enthrall audiences with their upcoming concert featuring a captivating program. As the resident string quartet at CU Boulder, these young artists have the privilege of studying under the renowned Takacs Quartet. The repertoire for the concert showcases the timeless brilliance of Beethoven, the evocative intensity of Brahms, and 20th century Mexican composer, Mario Lavista. The Lírios String Quartet promises an unforgettable performance that will captivate audiences and ignite a love for classical music.

Violist Andrew Krimm and Dr. Robert Hjelmstad are joining forces for a concert featuring solo and duo masterworks. The lineup includes J.S. Bach's Suite No. 1, Ravel's Sonatine, Suite Hébraïque by Bloch, J.S. Bach's Toccata in E minor, and Vieuxtemps' Sonata op. 36 for Viola and Piano. Join us for an afternoon that celebrates the beauty and eloquence of these two instruments starting with the music of Bach and expanding through the 20th century.
