The ARTery is a new art space in downtown Grand Junction designed to serve artists and creative entrepreneurs by providing community access to shared studio and workspaces along with educational opportunities. CMU music faculty and students were busy this summer!

Voice faculty Dr. Caitlin Moore and Dr. Christopher McKim presented their work, Confronting the Unknown: Introducing Commercial Music into Your Voice Studio or Program, at the 2026 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) National Conference in San Antonio.

We’re also proud of voice student Taegan Riley Metz, who represented CMU in the Commercial Music category at NATS and advanced to the national semi-finals!

From faculty scholarship and professional development to students taking their talents to the national stage, our CMU Music community stays busy all year long.

Are you getting ready for Colorado All-State Choir auditions? Join us at Colorado Mesa University for an afternoon of audition prep and coaching.

Dr. Dirk Johnson will lead an Audition Musicianship Elements class. Drs. Caitlin Moore and Chris McKim will be available for one on one coaching session for solo repertoire practice.

Come get some extra preparation, feedback, and confidence before audition day.

Mark your calendars — our own faculty members are taking the stage together. 🎶 On September 13 at 3pm in Love Recital Hall, Jeffrey McCray (bassoon) and Brian Krinke (piano) present an afternoon of American works for bassoon and piano, spanning the 20th and 21st centuries. Composers include Halsey Stevens, Roy Harris, Alvin Etler, Ray Luke, and Krinke himself — including Frost and Fire, inspired by Ray Bradbury's science fiction. We can't wait to share our faculty with you this season.

Flamenco. Jazz. North African rhythms. Celtic whimsy. Brazilian expression. The Miguel Espinoza Fusion Trio brings it all together. 🎻

The first guest artists of the 2026-27 music season perform Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm in Love Recital Hall with a sound built from world musical traditions woven into something entirely their own. Their collaborators include two-time Grammy winners Howard Levy and David Balakrishnan.
