Guitar Club Grand Junction It’s all about the love of music!

We always begin and end the night together, but split into smaller interest groups.

Tonight!
Hi everyone! Hope you are having a great weekend! Hope you are enjoying Autumn in Grand Junction!

So, Christmas is approaching and keeping me busy already. The church held its annual Bazaar today. "The Unpaid" performed Christmas music for the lunch. I definitely need to practice more. But we had fun and people enjoyed it. We'll keep working on Christmas. Remember, we've been invited to play/sing Christmas at the Grand View (Senior) Apartments on Tuesday, December 16, 2 to 4. Let me know if you can come. The more the merrier!

You all are also invited to Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving, from 11 to 2 p.m.. Like last year, you can join in the band, playing Christmas music, you can help serve if you like, or you can just come and enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings. Everyone is invited. We'll be setting up by 10:30 a.m. You can join the music as long (or short) as you like. It was great fun last year and people loved it!

Monday night: We have, "They'll Know We're Musicians," if any of our "nuts and bolts" folks want to play along.

2nd, we'll revisit (by request) , "Wires and Wood" the guitar players song.

Rosemarie requested another oldie but goodie to learn, "Unchain My Heart" by Ray Charles. Should be fun!

I'll take on "Lady Madonna" by The Beatles. Seems fitting for much of today's world, unfortunately. Good reminder for me.

Rich has a new Ed Shearon song: "Best Part of Me." I believe that Heather will help him.

Finally, I'm adding a favorite Christmas song of mine: "Christmas Bells" by John Gorka. Based on Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem of that name, written during the Civil War. I believe, soon after his wife was killed in a fire and after his son was severely wounded in battle.

Sounds like another full set of great songs! Hope you can join us!

Blessings,
Kevin Keith Arensman

International Guitar Month
International Guitar Month is observed in April and is the perfect time to strike its chords and produce some exquisite melodies. The guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments. If you didn’t know how to play guitar until now then this is the perfect opportunity for you to learn! InterInternational Guitar Month is all about celebrating the delight of the sweet sounds of punk, rock, or whatever other genres of music the guitar features in that you would love to create or even listen to. Let’s grab our guitars and salute the musicians who shaped guitar music and inspired future guitar stars. Interesting history of guitars and other fun facts at this link: https://nationaltoday.com/international-guitar-month/
Why International Guitar Month is Celebrated

It relieves anxiety

Listening to music can soothe your soul but playing an instrument has far better effects on your mind. By playing guitar, you can actually get over trauma. When you play guitar, you tend to concentrate solely on the instrument, which shifts your focus from worries of life towards the harmonized melody of the instrument. In this way, you can feel less anxious.
Boosts your creativity

Playing guitar can help you improve your creativity. Guitarists who don’t stick to a single genre or a single type of guitar tend to have more creative thinking. They are open-minded and can tackle many kinds of instruments at a time. Also, producing new melodies is all about creativity, the more creative you get with your guitar, the more harmonized melody it’ll produce.
Tribute to guitarists

International Guitar Month honors the most famous guitarists of all time. This month is celebrated to pay tribute to those musicians who paved the way for modern guitarists. Many events are organized to pay homage to all the amazing guitarists of the past and to recognize new artists.

Applaud the guitar and the great music it's created as we celebrate International Guitar Month, April
