What is an ofrenda?
An ofrenda is an altar built to honor and remember loved ones who have died. Families fill them with photos, marigolds (cempasΓΊchil), candles, pan de mu**to, water, salt, sugar skulls, papel picado, and the favorite foods and belongings of the people they remember. Each item helps guide spirits home.
Five local artists are creating original ofrendas for the first annual DΓa de los Mu***os Festival (Day of the Dead) at Cross Orchards Historic Site. Come see them in person, hear the stories behind them, and add a remembrance of your own to our community ofrenda.
