Washed Ashore Creations

Washed Ashore Creations I create art from ocean‑worn treasures to inspire hope, remind others of their strength, and reflect the truth that beauty can rise from every storm.

Grounded in faith, my work celebrates resilience, renewal, and the grace that carries us through.

🌊Wandering Melody🎸🎶🌊

The secret I hinted at earlier this week is finally finished — meet “Wandering Melody.”

This isn’t a flat piece… it’s a fully dimensional driftwood guitar sculpture, shaped from wood gathered along the shores of Lake Michigan and tiny shells carried home from Florida. Two places that have held me, lifted me, and reminded me to breathe.

I chose the name “Wandering Melody” because that’s exactly what this piece feels like to me — the rhythm of long shoreline walks, the quiet songs that steady my heart, and the gentle way God meets me in those drifting, peaceful moments. Creating pieces like this is where I feel that same peace. And seeing people pause, smile, or connect with my art… that’s the part that fills me up.

This one is perfect for that beach‑loving, guitar‑playing, laid‑back soul — the person who feels the rhythm of the waves and the melody of life all at once.

If you or someone you know might be interested in this piece — or would love one created just for them — feel free to reach out. I’d be honored to make something that speaks to your heart. 💙🎵

My piece didn’t get chosen this time, but my heart’s still really full. Seeing it up on that wall felt so surreal — just a sweet reminder of how far I’ve come this year. I’ve poured so much of myself into this art, and I’m genuinely proud of it. Not every ‘no’ is a loss… some are just quiet steps forward. Having my friends and family there to support me meant the world. And it’s still up for viewing during the Ottawa County Area Art Trust Exhibit that runs through Sept 3. It is located at the Ottawa County Administration Building, 12220 Fillmore Street in West Olive, — even if it sells before then, which I’m praying it does.

🌊 In the Works

Working on something new tonight… one of those pieces that feels like it arrived with its own tide. I’m still shaping it, still listening for what it wants to become, still letting the quiet parts speak first.

There’s a hush to it — a kind of rhythm you feel more than hear, like the start of a melody drifting in before you realize you’re humming along. Even unfinished, it’s carrying a little bit of that lift I always chase.

I’m letting it unfold slowly… letting the shoreline hold the rest of the story for now.
Something is stirring. Soon. 💙🌊

🌊 Taking a leap I never thought I’d take…
I officially entered an art contest today. Honestly, that’s something I never imagined myself doing — but sometimes you just have to trust your gut, breathe deep, and go for it.

Creating coastal art has brought me so much joy, peace, and purpose, and this felt like the right moment to push myself a little further. No matter what happens, I’m proud that I took the chance.

And if you’d like to see the piece that came from that leap, I’d love to have you join me at the Ottawa County Art Trust Exhibition!
Reception: June 23 at 4:00pm
Awards: 4:30pm
Where: Administration Building, 12220 Fillmore Street, West Olive

The public is welcome — please come and show your support. Seeing friends and family there would mean the world to me as I follow the tide wherever it leads. 💙✨

Ohh and it’s not a SMALL thing in the literal and figurative meaning as the work is 24 x 36.

This mermaid and her turtle buddy have been such a fun pair to put together. I never really plan these pieces — the shells just sort of tell me where they want to go, and somehow these two ended up side‑by‑side like they’ve been friends forever.

I’m getting ready to add the sturdy backing and then build one of my driftwood frames around them, but I wanted to share a peek before they’re all dressed up. There’s something about the mix of shells, driftwood, and soft textures that just feels calm and beachy in the best way.

Can’t wait to see how they look once the frame pulls it all together.

🐴💙 “Chancey” A Gift for Second Chance Farm

This driftwood horse carries so much of my heart. Every piece of him was shaped by the lake long before it ever reached my hands — worn, weathered, and still full of purpose.

I made him as a gift for Second Chance Farms, because my daughter is about halfway through her program there, and she is learning. Even though I haven’t watched her sessions yet, I can feel the change in her — the confidence, the calm, the way she talks about her horse and the things she’s working on. It’s the kind of growth you quietly pray for as a mom.

Their mission is “to come alongside at‑risk youth and families with the hope, healing, encouragement and love of Christ through the gospel message.” And even from the outside looking in, I see that happening in her life.

Kids are paired with a horse that becomes their companion, and together they build trust, connection, and a relationship that helps them heal. And I love how they remind the kids that “God is the only true healer of a broken heart” and that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Those words hit differently when you’re a mom watching your child find her footing again.

I’m so grateful for the mentors who pour into her with patience, encouragement, and steady love. You can tell their hearts are in this — truly in it.

So this little driftwood horse is my thank‑you. A piece shaped by the lake, a piece shaped by love, and a whole lot of appreciation for a place that’s giving my girl exactly what she needs.

🌊✨ Grandma’s Gift of Ocean Magic

This little mermaid came together almost like she knew exactly where she was meant to go. Bit by bit, she shifted and settled into the ocean‑kissed treasure Grandma had been hoping to give her granddaughter — driftwood curves, sea‑glass colors, and that sweet personality that shows up somewhere along the way.

And honestly, that rainy day we just had worked in her favor — it gave me the perfect excuse to slow down, fine‑tune the details, and make sure every piece landed just right.

Around her frame, I tucked in three tiny coastal secrets — little treasures that feel like they washed up just for her. Can you spot the unique embellishments… and do you know what the one mysterious piece actually is?

Her granddaughter’s name is going be added across the top, and she will be finished with picture‑hanging wire on the back — all ready for her new home.

There’s something special about creating a piece meant to be gifted. It feels like helping a story travel from one heart to another. And this mermaid feels like she’s heading exactly where she belongs.
Only couple final touches and she is ready.

🌊 Today’s little tide‑turner

“The Sea Spirit” swam off to her new home yesterday, along with two of my flower pieces — three in one day! My heart is full and sandy in the best way. 💙

And the tide brought in three new commissions too: a mermaid, an otter, and another set of sandals. They’re already in motion. I even sat on the couch last night making mermaid hair while watching TV with the hubs. 🪸✨

Now that summer’s here and my pool is finally up, I’m not gonna pretend I’ll be inside all day working. These will be crummy‑weather or evening projects for sure.

I’m still open to bigger custom pieces, but they’ll need to be worth the time and detail — nothing wildly complicated unless the price matches the work. Otherwise, I’ll mostly be stocking up for a fall craft show and letting the sunshine have me. ☀️🌴

If you’ve been thinking about a custom piece, especially something meaningful and not overly complex, now’s a good time to get on my list. These coastal souls don’t sit around long.
