This piece is called "Matthew 25:45" and when I started it I was so angry. Then over the weeks it took to finish that anger just turned into sadness.

I am not really a religious person. Honestly, maybe there is something greater than us out there. Who am I to deny that? Maybe there is some creator watching our lives unfold... But if he is there, then in my opinion, he's an absentee father at best, and I think he has a lot to answer for.

But regardless of my feelings about God, I can't help but think of Jesus during times like these. Because, whether he was a divine being or just a man, there is no denying where Jesus of Nazareth would have stood when humanity and compassion were once again on the line. And I can't help but wonder, would some of his followers even recognize him today or would they be too blind in their "faith" to see him standing there among the broken and afraid?
*Painter's note: Jesus of Nazareth was a Middle Eastern man, and as such was likely to have brown or olive skin and darker features. His complexion being fair in this piece is an intentional choice due to the common ideals of the crowd standing among him, further emphasizing the lack of recognition.

While I’ve always had a deep love for Greek mythology and have created several pieces inspired by that pantheon, I wanted to step into something a little different this time. This is Hel’s Gaze, inspired by the Norse goddess Hel. It’s only my second ever portrait (the first was Survivor’s Eyes, a small Medusa piece), and I’m genuinely so happy with how it turned out. I’ve always been fascinated by death deities and how the afterlife, underworld, and their gods are represented in different cultures. I’d love to keep exploring these themes in my work, and I hope you enjoy this piece.

As an artist, I have to admit, sometimes I just don't love every piece I make. There's not always a reason or a thing to fix. Sometimes, you just dont connect with the piece the way you hoped you would. In this case, rather than rework "Trials" (the fiery form on the left), I just decided to start over with the canvas. And I have to say, I do love the end result. 🩷

Of course, I've been listening to the new Sleep Token album on repeat, and Provider is definitely a favorite of mine. So I did some painting today while listening. Here's the second piece inspired by their music.

This is "Foxtrot" an acrylic piece on 8x8 canvas.

Thank you so much to everyone that attended the Opening Reception for Chapters. It was really a special night and I'm so grateful for everyone that was able to share it with me.

The show is up until the end of the month so there's still time to check it out!
