We’re so excited to welcome Michelle Aronson as the newest member of Riverside Collective!
Michelle creates one-of-a-kind cyanotype artwork, using the magic of the sun and botanical forms to create beautiful, ethereal pieces that are truly unique. We’re thrilled to have her work joining our collection of local makers and artists here in Saxapahaw.

Get an overview of the Neurographica process during this introductory workshop. We will explore a composition called 40 circles, and try out the practice of rounding, which helps show the brain that we are focusing on harmony. This helps downshift the nervous system out of fight/flight and into a more creative, open state. We will introduce the 8 steps of a Neurographic drawing including how to pick a topic to draw about, and the 4 observations that you make at each step; what do I see, what do I feel emotionally, what do I feel physically and what does it mean? We will not be able to actually draw all 8 elements during this introduction, but you will experience the calming effect of rounding and see how the process is laid out. This workshop is an introduction to the Neurographica process that will be fully explored in the Basic User Course, which is conducted over 6 weeks. Participants of the Intro course will receive a 10% discount on the price of the Basic User Course. Supplies are provided.

This short and fun fused glass workshop is a great way to spend an afternoon crafting in a new, creative, and relaxing medium. Participants will get to choose colors and pieces to collage glass scraps into a butterfly design on a glass suncatcher. The piece will then be taken to the DarionGlass kiln and returned to Riverside Collective for participants to pick up the following week! Discover the magic of eco-printing on fabric with flowers and plants! You’ll select your plants, arrange them on a bandana, and steam them to set the color—creating a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece reflecting the color of the season.

Courtney Lockemer is an artist and designer who works in fashion, textiles, photography, video, and performance. She is the executive director of Piedmont Fibershed, a nonprofit dedicated to building a sustainable fiber and textile economy in central North Carolina and surrounding regions. In this role, she collaborates with farmers, makers, manufacturers, researchers, community leaders, and others to build a soil-to-soil, regionally-based textile ecosystem. Her past work experiences include developing production-scale natural dye services for TS Designs in Burlington, NC and operating a small business designing and making sustainable women’s clothing. She is particularly interested in working with locally-available dye plants and reclaimed materials. Courtney has a Master of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and a bachelor’s degree in English and a certificate in Visual Art from Princeton University.
