There’s a new tradition in the Art Department. At the end of each school year, one outstanding student will be awarded the GHS Golden Brush - this award recognizes someone who has worked hard all year to grow their artistic skills and who has embraced challenges while showing a willingness to explore new ideas with curiosity and enthusiasm.

I can think of no better recipient of the inaugural GHS Golden Brush award than Emma Clark. Emma is an Art 4 student who exemplifies these qualities. She has shown perseverance in her relentless four-year pursuit of VASE greatness, medaling each year at Regionals; she cheers for her peers when the experience success, and she has been a dependable officer for NAHS. Emma will be attending UNT in the fall to study fashion design.

Emma’s Golden Brush will be installed in the art room, where her legacy won’t be forgotten! Thank you Emma, and good luck in your future endeavors! 💛🏆🖌️

Today around two dozen NAHS members were treated to an excursion- a reward for achieving service hour and club activity attendance goals. There are hundreds of service hours represented by these students!

We celebrated with a local field trip, and this might be my new favorite thing. Graham has so much to offer!

Thank you to these members and especially to our officers, who truly poured into NAHS this year and made it something extra special. You all deserved this bleat - I mean treat. 🎨🐑🍿

Extra props to local treasures Doodle Barn, Potter’s Pizza, and The National Theatre for making this day scrumptious and entertaining.

Teacher Appreciation Post #3

This post is about a teacher appreciating her students and job.

I love my job! There are so many things to be thankful for - one is that I get to be even a small part of these students' lives and stories.

This week I was honored to be the guest educator of Larisssa Warren at her Top 10% Graduate Dinner. I was delighted to receive graduation announcements from former students who are now graduating college - I hung them up next to their HS announcements.

The world is in good hands with the kids we’re promoting from GHS! They’re out doing spectacular things. ❤️💙

Teacher Appreciation Post #2

Here is how I know our students appreciate their teachers: the end of the school year is HARD. We’re all tired, we’re all busy, overstimulated, and ✨done.✨ It can be challenging to find ways to engage and finish strong. It can be hard to finish strong for yourself.

But when I put paper in front of these kids and ask them to make things for teachers they admire? They lock in. They find the inspiration that’s been missing.

It is special and uniquely human to make things for others - I’m so lucky to get to watch it happen. If someone gives you something they made just for you, I hope you hear what’s unsaid: “I care about you!”

🏆They did it! Out of around 33,000 Regional VASE entries in Texas, Kate and Sophia’s artworks were among the less than 7% selected to advance to the State contest.

🏅At this event the artworks were again viewed by judges, who determined that their two pieces scored at the highest possible level, meaning that they also medaled at this State contest.

🎨WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT! Please congratulate these students who represent Graham so well, not only with their talents but also with their character and behavior. We saw amazing artwork from students all across the state, ate yummy food, and had a wonderful time in San Marcos.
