The Bryan Museum in Galveston has created a wonderful exhibit, The Life and Times of Charles Goodnight and it is now at The Old Post!

And Educators...The Bryan Museum in Galveston wants to offer you free Texas history educational resources that you can use in your classrooms in conjunction with the upcoming special exhibit at The Old Post Office Museum & Art Center in Graham. The Life & Times of Charles Goodnight will be on display at the Old Post from early August through the end of October. Our traveling exhibition for studentsโ€™ mini museum of the same name is a great resource to use before or after a field trip to visit the 13 amazing paintings and artist sketches that make up the museum exhibit.

Next up: The Life and Times of Charles Goodnight, an exhibit by The Bryan Museum - A generous donation from James E. Parkman of 13 paintings created by artist Lee Cable was recently gifted to The Bryan Museum. This portfolio of stunning oil paintings details the life and story of famous cowman and plainsman Charles Goodnight and demonstrates the historical wonder of the cattle drive and its importance in the history of the west.

Come experience the heart wrenching and incredibly moving artwork of Texas artist, Tom Lea, at The Old Post!

Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00-4:00

El Paso artist Tom Lea was the first Accredited War Artist-Correspondent hired by LIFE magazine to paint World War II as it was being experienced by U.S. and Allied troops. From 1941 to 1945, Lea traveled more than 100,000 miles to record military activities in places like the South Pacific, China, and Peleliu. His most iconic paintings were published in eleven issues of LIFE and became some of the most recognized war paintings in the world.
