We also took the night tour - The Ghost Tour. Our tour guide informed us that the Stanley Hotel has been ranked number five in buildings that have been tested for paranormal activity.
We started on the first floor in the billiard room. We were told that there are two kinds of paranormal activity - residual and haunting. A residual experience would be like hearing the cue ball hit the other balls over and over. A haunting would be a spirit in the room, like the woman who had been head of housekeeping for many years who is said to haunt room 217. She does not approve of unmarried couples and can be felt pushing them apart at night and has even packed suitcases and set them by the door. The twenty people on the tour all packed into room 201 where a gentleman is reported to bother the ladies. Steven King got his inspiration for his book "The Shining" from his stay at the Stanley Hotel.

On the daytime Historical Tour of the Stanley Hotel, we climbed up and down stairs. We spent time on all four floors and we also went outside. We were told that room 217 was one of the most active paranormal places. When the friends of the Stanleys stayed at the Hotel, all the children and their nannies stayed on the fourth floor. At that time the floor was open except for one small room and it was for the nannies to take their breaks in. Those kids loved to play pranks :) A young boy on the tour was asked to stand in a corner by room 401. In a little bit he started to fidget, and the tour guide asked him what was bothering him. He said he felt like he was being touched. If you're a true believer, that probably would have impressed you.

F. O. Stanley and his twin F. E. invented the Stanley Steamer automobile. They liked to dress alike and ride about in their invention.

In the early days of the Stanley Hotel, there were separate rooms for entertainment of men and women. The men had their billiard room with a U-shaped bar and where they smoked their ci**rs. The women had the room next door where they wrote letters for entertainment, but they also had a Steinway grand piano where John Phillip Sousa played at times.

The beginning of our adventure. Waving at you from the front porch of the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO. This hotel was built in 1909 by F.O. Stanley. Our room was number 303. Luckily we had the Otis Elevator to ride up. More to come!

I'm on my way to Estes Park Colorado where I will be staying at the historic Stanley Hotel. The Builder of this hotel also invented the Stanley automobile. Is this hotel haunted? I'll report on that later.
