We provide dance lessons to all ages 5-70 and to all levels from beginners to professionals Neelam is highly skilled in bringing forth the best in a person, especially the “performer” in everyone. Educated as Social Worker (LMSW), Philosopher (PhD
), and Classical Indian Dancer (Kathak), Neelam’s goal with Bollywood Academy is to provide opportunities for people from diverse cultures to celebrate life by learning and enjoying Bollywood dancing. These dances, as seen in Indian cinema are eclectic in nature combining the rich texture of many classical and folk dances of India and fused with Latin, Arabic, Hip-Hop and other popular styles of dancing. Neelam’s greatest influence and teacher, her mother, is a well-known former stage, television and movie actress in India. From her, Neelam received strenuous training and practice in acting and in various forms of dances, both eastern and western. Neelam’s first stage performance was at the age of five. During her teen years, she received second place in an All India Kathak dance competition. She has given over 1,000 performances in India and in the US. She has performed for wide ranging audiences, from underprivileged populations in rural India to dignitaries, including the President and the Prime Minister of India. In addition to teaching she also choreographs dances for others and performs at various events:

Neelam is passionate about dance education and focuses on interactive and enjoyable dance classes. Through her unique perspective on dance and life she creates an atmosphere of familiarity and relaxation for all. She believes that through cultural diversity and the sharing of one’s cultural gifts with others a greater understanding can be reached. Neelam lives life with a zeal, dances with joy, exultation and great energy. Neelam knows that dance not only improves cardio health, tones the muscles, but also enriches life thru the uninhibited & spontaneous movements of a dance. Neelam has been living in Genesee County for over 30 years. Currently, she lives in Grand Blanc and teaches Bollywood dance to students from beginners to advanced levels.
