Say hello to our Summer Emerging Artists!

Thanks to our scholarship program, each summer we have the opportunity to support three emerging artists as they refine their skills and develop their creative practices.

We couldn’t be more proud of Alice Sladek, Brandon Teris, and Rachel Antonia Silverio for bringing together “Muscle Memory,” a cohesive gallery exhibition that highlights their growth and hard work over the summer.

Come see what they’ve created and experience “Muscle Memory” in person. The gallery is open every day from 9am-5pm.

We’re giving away a FREE 8-week class to a lucky winner.

Whether you’re a beginner or intermediate student, 8-week classes come with instruction, clay, firings, and additional time to practice outside your class. The winner can choose from 23 classes and the next round starts the week of Aug 17th.

Maker House and the Santa Barbara Sculptors Guild invite ceramic artists to submit work for “Muddy Madness and the Eloquence of Clay,” a juried exhibition celebrating the expressive possibilities of ceramic sculpture and the incredible artistic talent found throughout California’s Central Coast.

From figurative works to ambitious abstract forms, this exhibition will showcase artists who continue to push the creative boundaries of clay while honoring its deep connection to the earth and the human hand.

JUROR CHRIS RUPP:

Interim Director of the Westmont-Ridgley Museum of Art, Chris Rupp is an artist, curator, and ceramics educator. He has organized numerous exhibitions, including major ceramic exhibitions and a retrospective of renowned ceramic artist Don Reitz. Rupp also teaches ceramics at Westmont College and has been a dedicated advocate for contemporary ceramic art throughout his career.
